Mission Of Joy has the best combination of reliable form and a good draw. From barrier 1 with early speed she should get the ideal run just behind the lone leader, which is the winning pattern at Sunshine Coast in the wet. Her Victorian maiden runs have been steady and close to a winning standard, and she handles soft ground.

Her Ipswich run in open company on soft ground would be good enough to win this. She has not built on it, though. She is 0 from 6, was well beaten in Sydney last start, and usually settles midfield when the map favours on-pacers. A trial second shows she is ready, so she is a strong place chance.
Seaticflash ran well on debut, finishing a length third after settling near the back. The worry is how she races. From barrier 11 she will be well back at a track that favours on-pacers in the wet, and she has not raced on turf or soft ground. She has the talent to win but needs the race to go her way.
Miss Kit Kat is the value in the race. Her debut fifth over this course and distance was a solid effort and close to what wins these races. She showed early speed that should put her one off the lead today. Second-up improvement is likely, and her soft trials suggest the going will not bother her.

On form he is the best horse here: his Newcastle second on a Soft 6 track at 1400m was run to a winning standard, and he has raced in better maiden company. A recent trial win at Deagon on a soft track shows he is ready. The worry is where he settles, because the map has him back in a moderately run race and this track favours horses up handy in the wet. From barrier 6 with Thompson riding, he should be able to sit closer than the map suggests.
He fits the pattern for this track in the wet. He has the early speed to sit just off the lone leader Varejao from barrier 8 in a moderately run race. He has not placed on soft ground yet and over-raced when leading at Ipswich, but a handy run with 55kg makes him a strong place chance.
That was a genuinely good first run and would win many maidens like this one. He comes back first up and steps up to 1200m with top weight and a wide gate, so there are questions.
He looks overpriced. His Rockhampton second over 1200m, when he raced up on the speed, is the best run by anything in this field, and his form over his last three runs is solid. His recent runs have come from the back after slow starts, and the map and the wet on-pace bias are against that. If he jumps cleanly and gets a trail, he can be in the finish.

Double R Group Hcp (C5)
The clear form choice. She ran to near-winning standard when second at this class on a soft track last start, and before that had excuses at Eagle Farm and Doomben. From barrier 4 she should sit just off Super Daisy in what looks a slowly run sprint. That spot has done best here in the wet, and Friday racing tends to favour on-pace runners.
A genuine wet-tracker coming out of a stronger race. Her third at Lismore on a Soft 5 track was a solid run, and her soft and heavy records are the best in the field. At the minimum weight and mapped to sit handy behind the leader, she has the right profile for today's conditions. The main doubt is the booking.
A consistent placegetter who suits the conditions and the map. His second over this track and distance on a soft track in June was among the better runs in the race, and his last start can be forgiven after he was held up on the turn. From barrier 3 he should get a good sit.
A reliable wet-track horse who nearly won at this level here a fortnight ago, despite missing the start. Stepping up to 1200m should suit him, and he goes well on soft ground. Top weight and his habit of settling near the back count against him, because this track has favoured runners on the speed in the wet.
On his best form he is the class runner in the race, and he has won all 3 of his starts over 1200m here. His first-up run was better than the result: he began awkwardly and still finished close enough. The worries are his running style and the ground. He settles back, and he has not always handled soft going. A Soft 5 track is more manageable than the heavier going that beat him before. Should improve second up.
She's the race's only real leader, and a slowly run 1200m on a soft Sunshine Coast track favours horses who get to the front. She was a close third at this class on soft ground in July, and this looks easier than her recent attempts in stronger races.

BRD Group (Bm65)
On form she is the most likely winner. Her last two runs at this track and trip came up to a winning standard, and those runs are clearly ahead of anything else in this field. She won here over 1000m in August and was only just beaten last start. Two things hold us back: she has no wins on soft ground and she takes a big weight rise. Even so, her class edge should carry her, as long as she settles in the first half of the field as she has been doing.
He gets the run the track favours: on speed from an inside draw on a soft track. He did best of the leaders when a narrow second at this grade first up. Second-up runs have been his best (2 from 2), and his wet form includes a close second on heavy here.
Her connections are a big plus and she handles wet ground. She was checked late in a fair first-up run and should settle handy from barrier 4.
Drawn wide in barrier 11, she will need the fast tempo to hold up so she can finish over the top.
She can take advantage of the wet ground. She is 2 from 3 on soft and is the quickest beginner in the race, and from barrier 2 she should get the ideal spot just off the lead.

On form he's the most likely winner. Caishen's recent runs are the best in this field, including a fourth over this course and distance on a soft track in a stronger race and a second on a Soft 5 track last start. Barrier 3 should let him sit just behind the leaders, and handy runners do best on soft ground here. The speed map points to a fast pace, but he has handled pressure before.
Her Sunshine Coast maiden win over this trip on a Soft 7 track is among the strongest pieces of form in the race, and it came from racing handy. She has struggled on good tracks since stepping up, but the return to soft ground should suit. The concern is that she's still proving herself at this level.
Yabby Pump has solid wet-track form and a good second-up record, and he drops in class today. He should be fitter for his run at Ipswich. The worry is that he has faded late after racing on the pace, and the pace will be fast. Graded place chance.
On pure ability he's among the best in the race. His form before the spell includes near-misses at a stronger level than this. Even so, the drop in class and a fast pace that suits midfield runners make him an overlay.

Bennett + Bennett Hcp (C1)
On form she is the clear top pick. Her Sunshine Coast maiden win over this trip on a Soft 5 track is the best run in the field. She ran on well for third over 2200m last start after a slowly run race left her too far back early. Back at her preferred 1800m on a soft track, with a top local jockey and an inside draw, she should get a better position.
Kharif is a lightly raced gelding who shapes better than his last-start sixth suggests. The clock showed that Grafton run was genuine Class 1 winning form after he settled back. He has wet-track form, and barrier 2 with early speed should give him a handy run.
Evade The Game should lead or sit handy from barrier 6. She has already won over this course and distance on a soft track. Only two runners are likely to go forward, so she can control the tempo if she settles.
Lord Danilo has been racing consistently and his runs have measured up against the clock. His close second in a Class 1 on a soft track at Kilcoy is strong form for this race, and he has a big weight advantage. His stable is in good form.

Clearly the best form in the race. She has run two close seconds in Brisbane city maidens, leading or sitting second both times, and both runs were at a winning standard for this grade. Barrier 2 and her early speed fit the track's on-pace lean. She is unproven on soft ground and her stable is cold, but in a weak provincial maiden the class edge should carry her.
Her soft-track trial win at this track is a good sign for the conditions. The wide draw makes her task harder in a race where handy runners from inside gates do best. The stable also has a poor record here.
His last run was a big step up. He sat second over this course and distance on soft ground and was only fading when he blundered late. He should keep improving in his next run after the spell, and the booking of a top local jockey is a positive.
Overpriced for a filly with the most relevant form in the field. She led and ran second over this course and distance on a soft track, and she has placed twice from four soft-track starts. Her recent trial here suggests she is fit and ready.
