The clear pick on form. With no genuine leader, he should settle about third, which is the place to be at Cranbourne.

The Valley @ Southside Cranbourne (Bm66)
Crudens Tycoon has the most early speed in the field, so he could lead in a slowly run race on a track that favours on-pace runners. His BM64 third on a soft Sandown track was only moderate, though, and he has yet to race on a good track or at 1400m.
Quynh is still a maiden, but both her race runs were close to winning standard, and she was beaten less than two lengths each time after settling near the tail. She drops to 53kg and draws barrier 1, and a firmer track than she has raced on so far could help. The concern is her racing pattern, because a backmarker in a slowly run race at Cranbourne is up against it. She is a solid place prospect rather than a likely winner.
Over The Bridge is the clear top pick on form. Her Bendigo maiden win on a soft track was run at a standard well above that class, and she beat the field easily. Cranbourne favours runners close to the lead. The 1400m trip is a question, but her strong finish at Bendigo suggests she will handle it.
Obambulate is the only genuine leader, and he will lead a slowly run race at a track where leaders hold on. His wet-track record is the best in the field, with a soft win and a heavy win. The weight of 61.5kg is the worry, but this map suits him.
Shameful Impulse is the value in the race. She is the only runner proven at 1400m on a good track, and her Wodonga win was run at a standard good enough to win this. She came from 8th at the 400m to win going away. Barrier 2 and an in-form local jockey help, but settling back in a slowly run race is the main risk.

His debut third at Mornington was the strongest run anyone in this field has put up. He was giving away a big start from the back and still hit the line hard. He steps up in trip, has a Dubawi pedigree bred for further, and comes from a stable in form. Settling back on a track that suits the leaders is the main risk. Barrier 1 should let Ethan Brown hold a more handy spot.
The clear danger. Pinazaki has run consistently well every time and gets blinkers on for the first time. At Seymour he raced on the speed and held his ground for third. With the gear change he could hold a handier position from barrier 4. The 1400m is new, but he has been finishing his races well.
A reliable placegetter who gets ideal conditions. He's on a Good track, where he has placed four times from five, and draws barrier 2 to sit behind the leaders. His Echuca second a week ago was a sound effort. He has run to a similar level before when unlucky at Geelong.
The early speed in a race likely run at a moderate tempo on a track that suits on-pace runners. His Geelong run where he led and was beaten narrowly was good enough to win many maidens. If he rolls forward from barrier 9 and gets an easy lead, he's the one most likely to cause an upset.

The clear form horse. He drops sharply in grade after a close third in the McKenzie Stakes and has run to a winning standard at every start, including two runs where he was held up. From barrier 6 he should sit just off Pursuit and Faster Link at a genuine but not hot tempo. He is the most likely winner.
He should lead from barrier 5 in a race with only one other genuine leader.
Ranarsson has no race form, but the signs are good. His trials have improved each time, finishing with a win at Flemington. The first-time gear shows he has been a bit green, and barrier 8 is not ideal, but he is the most likely of the unraced runners.
He has the most early speed in the field and should lead or sit on Pursuit's back from barrier 4, which is the best spot at Cranbourne. His fade at Seymour came on heavy ground, and a Good track suits better.

Mittys (Bm74)
Taking on the trip for the first time with top weight on a good track are real questions, and a slow tempo does not help a horse ridden from behind. Even so, she is still improving and her class edge should carry her through.
Covert Thinking has the best map of the main chances. She has won at the trip, she should sit behind the lone leader from barrier 4, and a slow pace suits her. Her times sit a little below Ocean Bay's, and she is still looking for her first win on a good track.
The Devil In Her has run faster times than most of this field, including a strong effort over 2100m at Sandown when the tempo was against her. However, she keeps settling near the back, and a slow, one-leader race at Cranbourne works against her style. Her strike rate around this trip is also poor. She should run on for a place, but winning is harder.
She is the only horse likely to lead, she jumps from barrier 2, and a slow pace at a track where leaders stay in front gives her a real chance to steal the race. Friday meetings also tend to favour on-pacers.

Myeloma Australia (Bm66)
With no other genuine leader in the field, he should be able to control a slow tempo from barrier 4, which is the pattern that won him his last two races at this level at Geelong. Last start he was up in grade and went too hard early, so this drop back suits him. The firmer track is a question, but it should soften during the day, and the map strongly favours him on a Friday at a track where leaders hold on.
He is the in-form runner in the field. He won at Mornington last start after sitting handier than usual, and the Sale run before that was very good late after he missed the start. He is proven on good ground and has already run third over 2400m. Getting back in a slow race is the main risk, but a good ride from Stockdale gives him a clear chance.
He is a consistent stayer who has run second in each of his last two starts, and his good-track record is clearly the best in the race. He gets in light with 54.5kg and draws barrier 2, so he should find cover in the run. His clock times are ordinary and he doesn't win often, so the place looks safer than the win. In a race that looks lacking in quality, he should be thereabouts again.
On form he has the most upside in the race. He is lightly raced, suited by wet ground and still getting better. The worry is the map: Cranbourne suits horses on the pace, and he will need a clear run.
The map suits her. From barrier 1 she should sit right behind the leader in a slowly-run race, which is the best spot at Cranbourne. Her Ballarat run last start rates better than finishing 11th suggests, and she has already won above this grade.

Ladbrokes 55 Second Challenge (Bm66)
The map suits her better than anyone. She is the lone leader in a 955m sprint at Cranbourne, where horses leading early have been hard to run down. Her last race win came over this exact course and distance on a good track, leading all the way in a stronger grade than today's. She has had two recent jump-outs and has Damian Lane back on. The main doubt is her trainer's cold run, but her form and the likely run of the race make her the most likely winner.
She drops in grade after running competitively in Bm70 fillies and mares races, has won both first-up starts, and comes from a stable with a strong Cranbourne record. However, she is expected to sit midfield from barrier 7 behind a lone leader, on a track that suits horses racing forward. Her only good-track start was a 4th.
A reliable type who has run second in his last two starts at this grade. He has good early speed, so he should sit just behind the lone leader, and he has already won over this course and distance. His good-track record is solid.
His recent times make him the value runner.

Powerflo Solutions (Bm70)
Her comeback win over a stronger mares' field was the best recent run in this race, and she won going away after starting from well back. She is lightly raced, still improving, carries only 58kg and drops in class. The worries are that she starts slowly and races at the back on a track that suits on-pace runners. Even so, her class advantage should see her home.
She now drops in class and gets the lightest weight. She is proven at 1400m, and she and her jockey are 2 from 2 together. From barrier 8 she needs a bit of luck to hold a forward spot, and her good-track record is only fair.
She has the best map of the leading chances. From barrier 4 she should sit just off the pace on a track where on-pace runners hold their ground up the short straight. She has a strong Cranbourne record and has won five times on good ground.
His Sandown second on Soft 5 last start came at this level and over a similar distance. The main danger is the pace: three genuine leaders could cook the speed.
Two runs ago she won at Flemington in fast time, a run good enough to win this race. That was on a good track, which suits her better than the soft ground at her last start. Barrier 14 and a likely spot near the back are real negatives here.

Drummond Golf (Bm66)
Gold Chariot has the best recent form in this field: a Bm66 mile win from a wide gate, then a narrow second in stronger Bm74 company. He has placed in five of six starts and holds the most upside of anyone here. Top weight and an awkward map are the risks. From barrier 3, though, Shinn should hold him closer than the speed map predicts, as he did last start. He is short, but he is the most likely winner.
Kastun Star's last-start win was a clear step forward, and it came on a good track similar to today's. He looks set to lead from barrier 5. With the map suiting on-pace runners, the moderate tempo and a Friday night track, he should get every chance to hold on. The class rise and his record at the mile are the questions.
Although he finished only sixth at Sale, King's Coronation ran faster than most in this field. That race also involved Finance Shogun. From barrier 4 he should sit just behind the pace, which suits Cranbourne. He drops 2kg from last start and has won his only previous mile race.
An improving young horse who won his last start at Seymour easily, over a mile on the same going as today. That was one of the better runs in this field. He has the speed to hold a spot near the pace. Barrier 14 is the main problem at a track where wide gates do poorly, and he steps up in class.
Finance Shogun's recent form looks plain, but his runs have been better than his finishing positions suggest. He was beaten only a length at Sale and narrowly at Cranbourne on a heavy track. He has the most early speed in the field, has won twice at Cranbourne and has done all his winning on good tracks. If he gets a soft lead or sits just off the pace, he is the kind of horse that holds on here.
