Doradus is the form pick. From barrier 2 he should control a moderately run race at a track that favours those up on the speed. He has not won on soft ground, but three seconds from five starts show he handles it.

Midway (Bm72)
He is a progressive four-year-old who won at this trip and grade last start and has James McDonald aboard again. He is not on top because he carries 60kg and is likely to give Doradus a start in a race without much pace, on a track that favours forward runners. He is the clear danger and a strong place and exotics anchor.
All Star comes off a strong second at Randwick over 1600m in this grade, where he was bumped heavily at the start and still finished within a length. He has won on soft ground and should settle in the first half-dozen from barrier 4, which suits the track pattern. The query is 1800m for the first time on a sprinting pedigree, and that keeps him below the top two. He has solid place claims and is the main threat if they falter.
Cabbucio is the overlay. She has only had six starts, both wins have come on soft ground, and her recent runs at Kembla stack up well against this field on time. She struck trouble on heels when a close second last start. She now drops to 51kg and gets the rain-affected ground she likes. Each-way.

Arrowfield Breeders' Plate
He was the standout trial winner of this group, putting a big space on his rivals in sharp time, and comes from a stable in excellent recent form with a jockey who combines very well with the trainer. The inside gate suits the forward-favouring Randwick sprint pattern. The unknown is the wet ground, as his trial was on a firmer surface, but he is the most likely winner on the evidence available.
The jockey stays aboard from the trial. Against him, the trial was on firmer ground and the jockey and trainer are yet to win together, though they place regularly.
The stable's youngsters are usually taught to jump and run, and barrier 2 gives him the chance to be right on the speed, which is the place to be over this course. The jockey's Randwick record is a knock and the wet ground is an unknown, but he is a solid each-way hope.
Fiji brings the strongest connections in the race and a pedigree tailor-made for early two-year-old sprinting. He won his trial on soft ground with authority, although the time was modest compared with the leading heats. He is a genuine chance for a placing with upside if he jumps well and crosses.
The overlay of the race. Worth a small each-way ticket if the track keeps deteriorating.

Keeneland Gimcrack Stakes
Every filly here is unraced, so trials, connections and the draw carry the assessment. Shraddha won her trial on a soft surface, beating two of today's rivals, and has the best overall profile: an in-form stable, a proven jockey-trainer partnership and an inside gate on a track favouring low draws. That trial gives some evidence she handles give in the ground.
Zac Lloyd wins at a high rate for these trainers, the stable is in form and the low gate should allow a forward, economical run. She has to turn the tables on the trial winner, but the profile is strong and she is a genuine each-way chance.
Everlasting Grace is fit and educated after a jump-out win and a close trial second, and James McDonald's booking is the strongest intent signal in the race.
That combination of speed and draw suits a Randwick sprint where forward runners from low gates have held sway.

Cornerstone Risk Group Dulcify Stakes
He is the only runner to have measured up in stakes company this spring, running second in the Up And Coming and finishing close up in the Ming Dynasty after a chequered passage. He beat two of today's rivals home that day. A heavy-track winner, he maps perfectly just off a lone leader from barrier 4. The mile is a query but he has been strong late at both runs.
The main danger. His Kensington maiden win over 1550m was run in good time and he was strong through the line, suggesting the mile is ideal. He draws barrier 3, should settle in the first four behind a moderate speed, and has James McDonald aboard for Chris Waller. The class jump from a maiden is steep and he is untested on wet ground, which becomes a real question if the track worsens.
The map horse. He is the only natural leader, so Tim Clark should be able to cross, set a moderate tempo and give him every chance on a track that favours those up on the speed. He won his maiden leading throughout on soft ground and was not far behind Genesis Runner two starts back. The concern is his last run, where he led and stopped without explanation. If that was an aberration he can take running down, but he has to be taken on trust.
Rawiller and Maher are the form combination on the day and the step to 1600m on a drying track suits a Maurice colt. Preferred to Genesis Runner on strength of last-start performance.
The overlay. His Hawkesbury maiden win was run in the best time any of these has produced recently, and he did it the right way, sitting outside the leader and drawing clear over 1500m. That pattern suits a race lacking speed, and his breeding says the mile will help. The class rise is steep and his one soft-track run was plain, though he was taken back and hampered that day.

United Resource Management (Bm94)
The form pick. She overcame barrier 11 last start.
Her last-start second with 58.5kg was full of merit after being held up, and she is two from three at the mile. She is not on top because she is up sharply in grade, gets a long way back in a big field on a track that punishes backmarkers, and has had only two wet-track starts. Respect her, but she is poor value to win.
She comes through a strong mile at this track, where she ran second after missing the start, and the clock says that run would be competitive here. She has placed in three of four soft-track starts, winning two, and she was finishing alongside top-level company in New Zealand last summer. Barrier 1 and a 2.5kg drop help. The risks are another slow start leaving her back on the fence, and no heavy-track form if the rain keeps coming.
His two wet-track runs before that, including a win at this track and distance on Soft 6, were good enough to be in the finish here. He returns to rain-affected ground, drops 3.5kg, draws to settle midfield with cover and has a jockey who has won on him five times.

Darley Flight Stakes
The form leader. From barrier 3 she should sit first or second in a race lacking pace, which is the place to be at Randwick on soft ground. The mile is new and she has not won on soft, but her Silver Shadow second on a Soft 5 was run to a winning standard.
With a clean run she could turn the tables, and McDonald for Waller is a major plus. She is not on top because she has now chased the top pick home twice, her only soft-track run was a failure, and the mile is untested.
A progressive filly who has placed in both stakes runs this campaign, and the mile should be her best trip yet. She has soft-track form and only three starts behind her, so improvement is likely. She settled midfield or worse in both recent runs, and a slow tempo on a track favouring on-pace runners makes it hard to run down Bangkok Hottie, who has beaten her twice. She is a strong place chance but short on value to win.
The speculative play. Her first-up fifth was better than it reads. She carried 61kg, got a long way back over a trip too short, and her rider could not fully test her because she laid out. She now drops 5kg, steps up to a mile second-up and draws the rail. If the rain arrives she is the only heavy-track winner here.

Asahi Super Dry Metropolitan
He settles handy, draws barrier 4 and carries only 55kg. The risks are the step to Group 2, the untried 2400m and an unplaced run on heavy ground if the rain pushes the track that way.
The best wet-track stayer among the main chances and the one who gains most from the rain. He was beaten under a length in the Kingston Town when chasing a leader who got his own way, and he now meets that horse 2.5kg better over a more suitable trip. He maps to sit just behind the speed from barrier 5. The knock is that he places more often than he wins and has not won at Randwick.
He led all the way in the Kingston Town and maps to lead again from barrier 2 in a race with only two genuine leaders. He handles wet ground and stays the trip. He will give a bold sight in front, but the weight makes him vulnerable late over 2400m.
He has won five of six starts at 2400m and five of seven on soft tracks, which no rival can match. His last-start failure came under 59kg in a race run at a very fast tempo, and he drops 4kg here with rain to suit.

She settles handy, which suits the Randwick soft pattern, and barrier 3 lets her hold a spot behind a strong speed.
A progressive four-year-old who gets into a Group 1 mile with 51.5kg after carrying big weights in his two runs back. His Tramway third here was solid and he has won at this track and distance.
Her Sir Rupert Clarke fourth, beaten just over a length, measures up as well as anything the local horses have done this spring, and she is a proven Randwick miler who races on the speed. The wide gate and a winless soft-track record are the risks, though she has placed in half her soft runs.

Precise Air Premiere Stakes
Her Concorde win was the best performance in this field and her Arrowfield win over this course and distance was to the same standard. A fast tempo from Mazu and Savvy Hallie will suit her closing style, and she handles wet ground. The wide gate and backmarker pattern are the only real risks at Randwick.
His Concorde fourth from the back of the field was a high-quality effort behind Tempted, and his Shorts third was only a fraction behind Mazu with a weight swing in his favour today. He maps to settle midfield from barrier five, exactly where Randwick winners come from in a fast-run sprint. Handles any surface.
Plaintiff closed strongly for fourth in the Sheraco first up and should improve sharply second up. Her Randwick 1200m win on heavy ground from near last proves she can win from behind here if the pace is genuine, and two leaders guarantee that today. The expected track deterioration helps.
His Missile Stakes win here over 1200m two runs back matched Headwall's best and sits just behind Tempted's. He had no chance in The Shorts after being pushed very wide without cover from the 600m, so that run can be forgiven. He handles wet ground and returns to his winning track and distance. Barrier 14 is the concern, but he can settle midfield with the leaders going hard.
His Concorde second to Tempted was the next-best recent run in the field, as he began awkwardly and was held up at the 400m. The Shorts fifth was flat, but he got home over the top in a slowly-run race that the leader controlled. He is third-up at 1200m with a hot speed likely and has an excellent wet-track record. He needs luck from well back and is still looking for his first win at the distance, but he is the main danger.
Savvy Hallie beat a similar field in the Sheraco, going hard early and still holding her rivals. She will have to share the speed with Mazu, but she draws inside him and he must work from barrier thirteen to cross. Randwick strongly favours forward runners and she has a fine record here, including on wet ground if the track deteriorates.

On form he is the class runner. His Darby Munro win on soft ground over this trip is the standout performance in the field, and his Concorde return over 1000m was good enough to win a race like this. Second-up at 1200m from barrier 4, he should sit just behind a hot speed in the forward, inside position this track favours. The 59.5kg and a winless heavy record are the risks if the rain worsens.
He is not on top because that win came a grade lower and has not yet matched the best form of Beskar or Signor Tortoni. He is winless from three second-up runs, untested on heavy ground and likely to be pressured in a fast-run race.
A progressive mare whose wet-track runs last preparation stack up against the best in this field, including a strong Randwick third on Soft 7. She gets a big weight drop to 53kg, an inside gate and a tempo that should have the leaders tiring late. The class rise is steep, she resumes without a race since June, and she will be back in the field on a track that usually favours forward runners.
He is a 1200m specialist, has won twice at this track and distance, handles soft and heavy ground, and has a strong second-up record. His Concorde return was better than it reads after he was checked near the 100m. A fast tempo gives Collett the chance to slot in from the wide gate.
