Won last start over this course and distance in the same grade, settling back and finishing over the top, and he is a two-time winner here at the trip. Webster's yard is a force at this venue and the rider knows the track well. The deep-closing style is a query on a circuit that favours handy runners, but he has already proven he can overcome it here. The one to beat.

Brown Family Wine Group (Bm70)
Consistent mare with four wins and five placings from fourteen starts who gets in on the minimum weight. She has won here and placed twice more at this trip at Toowoomba, and she drops sharply in class from a far stronger Eagle Farm assignment last time. Comes from off the pace but has a sharp turn of foot and will be saved for one run.
He was beaten only a length in this grade here two starts back after being held up, and he is drawn to save ground from the inside gate. The concern is his habit of conceding a big start on a track that rewards forward runners, and he is yet to win at this venue.
Lightly raced five-year-old who won impressively here over this trip in the winter, sitting handy and kicking clear, and he has since won a trial. He will press forward early from a good gate and the Toowoomba leader bias plays right into his hands.

Empire Of Japan Standing At Hopetoun Farm Mdn Hcp
The most reliable form line in a race stacked with first-starters. Placed in two of four starts and ran a close fourth over 1050m two starts back, showing he can lead or take a sit. Drawn wide in barrier eight but has the early speed to cross and race on-pace, which is exactly what Toowoomba rewards. The one to beat.
She won her latest trial at the 1050m trip and lands barrier three, a genuine edge at this track. Stable and jockey combine well.
Ran the best race of anyone last start, beaten under a length at Warwick, and looks the likely leader from barrier four — a profile that suits Toowoomba's on-pace bias. Her jockey rides this track well and her trainer is in form. Yet to win in six starts and was well beaten in her only run here, but she's a live each-way chance.
He won a recent trial over 925m at Toowoomba and draws barrier two, the inside gate that carries a clear edge in 1010m races here. By a speed sire, so the trip suits.

Elegant Blinds Hcp (C1)
Drops out of a rich three-year-old Open Handicap into a thin Class 1 and brings the strongest form lines in the race. The trainer's local record is a plus. The query is the rise to 1210m and a plain last start, but his upside and the map make him the one to beat.
The knock is that he is a weak winner, has never won on good going, carries top weight and settles well back on a track that favours those handy to the speed.
A model of consistency with four straight placings, mostly over 1200m, and he maps to sit just off the speed which is exactly what Toowoomba rewards. He has won here and is drawn kindly in gate five. The concern is that he keeps finding one better and now steps up in grade, so he shapes as more of a place than a win proposition.
The value runner. He broke through at Toowoomba over a sprint with the best closing effort of anything in this field, and his trainer is going well with a smart recent strike rate.

Shahar is the form runner in a weak Class 1. She produced the best recent effort in this line-up when charging home for second over 1200m at the Sunshine Coast, and she has raced well here with a win and two placings from four track starts. From gate three she should lead or sit right on the speed, which is exactly where you want to be at Toowoomba. The knock is that she wins rarely, but her consistency and suitable map make her the one to beat.
Daiane is a genuinely improving mare who won her maiden here over 1200m by leading throughout and was runner-up on debut. She maps to be right there from gate two and looks the main danger on natural ability. The concern is the step straight out of maiden company while shouldering the 60kg top weight against hardened Class 1 horses. She has the upside to overcome it, but the class and weight rise is a real ask.
Hold My Hand is the class runner of the field, having mixed it in stronger three-year-old company and finishing second in a better race here over 1015m two starts back. The drop into a Class 1 is a real plus. However, her racing pattern is the problem: she settles back and needs luck, and Toowoomba is a track that strongly rewards horses up on the speed. She can be running on late but may have left herself too much to do around the turn.
Minxy resumes after a seven-month break but is a mare who has won first-up before and showed genuine early toe when last in work. Drawn in five she can take up a handy position, and both her jockey and trainer have respectable strike rates at Toowoomba.

Vale Vince Nugent Mdn Hcp
The clear class runner and likely leader, despite drawing out wide. The wide gate on a tight circuit is the obvious risk, but his natural early speed can carry him across. He is the most likely winner if he gets any luck in running.
Consistent without winning, he has been around the mark and comes here second-up for a stable that knows this track well. He did his best work late when caught wide last start, and the in-form local jockey is a plus. Drawn a touch awkwardly and still to prove the trip, but he should be in the finish.
Improving type who has placed at three of eight starts and hit the line well last time. The jockey-and-trainer pairing has a good record together. The concern is he settles back in a race where forward positions are favoured, and his trainer has been quiet of late. He has each-way claims if he can stay within striking distance.
Suited by the inside draw and a forward position, exactly what this tight circuit rewards. She gets back to a more suitable trip second-up and has shown she can run to a winning standard when able to lead.

Joe Wagner Group (Bm58)
A model of consistency with four placings in his last five, including a narrow second here over the mile last start when he led at the 400m. He settles handy from gate six, which suits a track that rewards on-pace runners, and his rider knows this course well. Yet to win here or at the trip, and his finish flattened last time, so he shapes as a solid each-way play rather than a certain winner.
Sir Goldalot owns one of the best course-and-distance records in the field with two wins and a third from three tries over this trip at Toowoomba, and he has placed at his last two. He races on the speed from a middle-to-wide draw, which fits the track pattern, and the stable is firing here.
The clear form pick, Abraham won at this track and trip two starts ago in stronger company before a plain effort at Doomben in city grade. The knock is the 61kg top weight and just one win from 11 on good ground, but the class and track form should carry him a long way.
Malecon is the value. His record here at the mile is outstanding and he drops sharply in grade after a string of runs over longer trips in better company.

Gerry Brown's Shelving And Storage Mdn Plate
Josephine Of Tuffy is the clear one to beat. She has the strongest recent form in this weak field and has been knocking on the door, finishing second at her last three starts, including twice here over this sort of trip. She rolls forward from barrier one and, with a soft tempo expected, should prove hard to peg back. The stable-and-jockey combination is one of the strongest engaged.
Crunch Time maps to settle handy from a good gate, which suits this track's on-pace bias and a slowly run staying race. His last effort over 2000m at Dalby was his best yet, travelling well on the speed and boxing on. He has the right profile for this race, but the concern is he has never placed in six starts and can finish weakly. A place result looks his best path.
The problem is his pattern: he gets back, and a slowly run staying race from a wide gate means he could be spotting the leaders too much start.
Concador has been racing without luck.
