Second-up he is one from one. Barrier 4 lets him dictate a moderate tempo, which this sprint rewards. The 59kg is the query against lighter fillies.

Juniper is the clear second pick. She has won both starts, the latest a Class 1 at this track over 1200m after missing the kick, and before that a heavy-track 1000m maiden from the back. Pike wins often at Belmont and barrier 3 helps her find a spot in the first six.
Mystic Smile gets the right trip through the race: rail, on pace, and 56kg on a track that favours horses in the first few at the turn. She has already placed on soft at Belmont and trialled well late in September. She has not won in four starts and both previous first-up runs were plain, with 144 days since a race. She can fill a placing.
Twilight Star is the value runner outside the main form trio. She has no raceday form, so the case rests on two Lark Hill trials, the latest a clear win in faster time than the stable's other debutant on the same morning, plus barrier 5 and an Earthlight pedigree that fits a 1000m sprint. The rider is cold and the stable is only moderate, so she is a risk on debut.

He has placed at both starts, and last week he sat just off the leader at Ascot over this trip on good ground and only just failed. A moderate tempo with one likely leader suits a horse that can camp in the first three.
Frosted Warrior is the clear second on recent form. The Bunbury third at this distance was better than the margin suggests because he was trapped behind a tiring horse and only got out late. Parnham is a major upgrade and the three-year-old is trending the right way. If the leader overdoes it he is the one most likely to run into the placings from the back half.
Diamond Choux gets third on winning chance because she has already shown she can run into the minors at this trip. The two Bunbury thirds on good ground were honest on-pace-to-midfield efforts and she has a second at this track.
Dropping out of a Class 1 into this maiden is a helpful class shift, and barrier 8 lets her find a midfield spot without the extreme outside.

Light weight and a midfield run style suit Belmont.
A filly who has met far better opposition than this and has the class edge on paper.
Winless in 21 starts but rarely far away, and his last two efforts at this trip were genuinely good. A genuine place chance with an each-way upside.
Only two career starts but the last was a good effort over this exact distance, finishing powerfully from the back. He needs a genuine tempo to run at but has the most scope to improve in the field.

Clearly the class runner of the field, having twice placed at Group level, most notably a strong-closing third in the Sires' Produce. She drops sharply to a maiden and is well drawn to get a soft run just off the speed. Morton and Fiore combine at a high strike rate and she was placed first-up last prep. The query is the five-month break and whether she settles close enough on a course that rewards handy runners.
Produced the eye-catching run of the meeting on debut, charging from last to be beaten under two lengths over this track and trip, and confirmed that promise with a smart trial win. A leading local stable and hoop add confidence. The knock is her get-back style on a course where horses off the pace struggle, and she has just one race start to her name.
Had good form as a two-year-old, finishing a close third over 1200m at Ascot and contesting a Group 3. He drops to maiden grade and has trialled nicely for this. The big negative is a wide barrier, which makes life hard in a 1200m sprint at Belmont, so he will need luck to slot in with cover. If he gets the right run he has the class to be in the finish.
On debut she was beaten under four lengths after racing wide and green throughout, doing well to stick on. Now she draws the inside gate with early speed to settle handy, and in-form Chris Parnham takes over.

His two-year-old form is the strongest in this field: both Ascot placings were run to a winning standard and he then won at this track and trip. He is proven fresh, has trialled twice, and Chris Parnham is riding in top form for a stable that gets them ready.
On recent form this is the horse to beat. He is drawn wide again but has handled that in both runs, and the moderate tempo suits him. The jockey's Belmont record and the 60kg are real negatives and the only reasons he is not on top.
A classy debut win on heavy ground at Northam showed he has ability, and the strongest stable and jockey combination in the race keeps the faith. He is drawn to get a nice run from gate 5 and the tempo should let him settle closer than his profile suggests. The concerns are the lack of exposure, the unknown on firm ground, and whether one maiden win is enough to beat proven Class 1 performers.
At this track, horses that lead or sit handy win more than their share, and this is the only runner with a consistent leading pattern in a race where the lead is up for grabs. His second-up record is a win from one try, he places most times on Good ground, and his Albany efforts behind decent sprinters would be competitive against this field.

Choices by Dallimores Hcp (C1)
She is the one genuinely promising horse in a thin Class 1. Two starts for a maiden win from last and a close third over this track and distance, where she loomed to win at the 50m before being reeled in. Pike, an inside draw and a map that puts her in the first four are all in her favour.
He has the talent to be in the finish and gets the setup he wants: second-up, with a genuine excuse for his fresh failure from the widest gate at Kalgoorlie. Two starts back over this trip at Ascot he was closing after being held up, which reads as a much better run than his finishing position suggests. Fit stable, good rider pairing, and the mile here does not penalise his wide-ish gate.
He is the runner most likely to be advantaged by the race shape: quick out of gate two, close to a moderate tempo, and carrying only 54kg after the claim. He drops in class and won his maiden with a strong surge over 1100m. The doubts are real at this trip and the last-start heavy-track flop, but if he gets a soft lead line he could stick on for a place at least.
She is the improver in the race. A last-start 1400m maiden win at Geraldton, preceded by a luckless Bunbury run where she was badly hampered late, and now she drops to 51kg from an inside gate.

His Belmont 1650m win last month was the best run in this field at this level, and last week's Ascot sixth was a sound effort against better-run opposition. The moderate tempo with one clear leader lets him sit second and pounce, the running pattern that wins Belmont miles. The Moora failure was explained by kickback.
She has won both Belmont starts, yet both came from well back in races that suited a closer, and last start she failed when held up.
A consistent galloper whose last four runs have all been within a few lengths of a winning standard, the steadiest profile in the race. He gets the right map, settling midfield and close enough to strike, and has already won over this track and distance.
Pure map value. She is the only confirmed leader in the field and should control a moderate tempo on a track where front-runners and stalkers dominate. Her autumn Ascot form, with two narrow seconds in better races, was the best in this field, and the 12-length first-up loss came over a sprint trip while racing wide. If she settles into a comfortable rhythm in front she can give the leaders a target they cannot catch.

Bisley Workwear (Bm54+)
Safari Boy produced the best run in this field last start when a nose from winning at Moora in Bm64 grade, and he backs that up with a sound Bunbury effort in a class 3. He now drops to 54+ with the inside gate and a jockey who wins at Belmont. The map has a lone leader so he should settle in the first six, which is where Belmont winners come from.
Olden gets the race run to suit. He is the only horse with a leading record, draws barrier 2 and should dictate a slow tempo in a race where on-pace runners hold a clear edge at Belmont. He won twice over 2200m at Northam last month before being outclassed in Bm66 grade, and now returns to the level he was winning at. The step up to 59kg is the main query at his age, but he can be very hard to run down if allowed to dawdle.
The light weight and inside gate are pluses. The problem is the map. He begins slowly, usually settles midfield or worse, and the likely slow tempo under a lone leader gives him little to run at on a track where backmarkers rarely win.
Barney Rommel beat several of these at Bunbury last start in the same grade and goes around with the lightest weight in the race after the claim. His class 1 form at Bunbury was genuinely competitive and he is still improving. The negatives are the wide draw, a likely midfield-to-back settle under a slow tempo, and connections with poor Belmont numbers.
