He comes into this off two impressive Randwick trial wins, one of them on a soft track, and his Canterbury metro maiden run in December is right up with the best form in this field. From barrier 4 he should sit third or fourth behind a lone leader in a slowly run race. That is the winning spot at Kembla Grange. He has top weight and has never raced on a soft track, but both are covered by his class edge and a strong-performing stable.

He should settle just behind the speed, which is the most profitable spot at Kembla Grange, and his soft-track trials were encouraging.
Iommi's first-up Canterbury run was full of merit. He was bumped at the start, raced keenly and had to be checked, yet still finished right on a winning standard in a stronger race. He drops in class and looks the only natural leader, so he should get things his own way. Two things hold him back: leaders have struggled here lately, and he has already failed on a wet track once.
My Star is a big overlay. Two weeks ago he went down by a half-length over this exact course and distance. That run is right up with the best form of the fancied Waller runners, and he has a soft-track second at Wyong. He is the quickest beginner in the race, so he can sit outside the leader, and he drops to 53.5kg with the apprentice claim.

Montresor won on soft ground at Beaumont with a time good enough to win this race, then ran second by a nose at a stronger grade after being held up in the straight. He should settle third from barrier 2, the handy spot that suits Kembla on a moderate pace. He is the most complete profile in the field.
Pulsator's debut win here was impressive. He led and pulled clear, and the time would win most Class 1 races. Waterhouse's stable does well at Kembla, and he should lead easily from barrier 1. Against that, he has never raced on soft ground or over 1400m, and leaders have struggled here on recent wet tracks.
Anthropoid is the most consistent horse in the race on time. He won by 5 lengths on soft ground at Wyong, placed in a BM72 and was beaten a half-length here last start after racing three wide. The soft ground suits him and barrier 4 should give him a handy run. The top weight, an unconfirmed jockey and a poor winning record keep him third, but he is the one to include in exotics.
She has the early speed to sit outside the leader, the spot that has won most often here in the wet. She carries a light 55kg and has already won at this track.

On form, the most likely winner. His second over this course and distance last start was one of the best runs in the race, and he had trouble at the start and again in the straight. He should sit just off the lead in a moderately run race, which suits handy horses at Kembla. His Goulburn run on Soft 5 in a better maiden says the going won't beat him.
He clearly has ability: second at Wyong in a winning-standard run, and third on a soft track. He is second pick, not top, because he laid in badly both times, which makes him hard to trust at the business end, and he will settle a few spots behind Van Hoven.
An improving young horse from a stable that goes well here. He was beaten a head last start, and the 2.5kg weight pull is handy. The extra distance should suit how he runs. He is ranked third because he tends to settle back, closers do poorly at Kembla, and he has not raced on a soft track.
The clearest overlay in the race. She has the mare's weight advantage and should sit handy. Each-way value.

On form she is the most solid maiden in the race. She ran third over this track and distance last start even though she began awkwardly and came from ninth, and her runs have consistently been near winning standard. She has placed on soft ground and should be sharper second up.
She normally races on the speed, has a good middle draw and gets in well at 55kg.
She has a great draw and the early speed to sit right behind the leader, and she should improve from a debut third where she missed the start and got crowded. Her debut was only a fair run against the clock, and she has not yet been tested on soft ground or at 1400m.
She has shown she handles soft ground, running a close second on Soft 5, and at her best she has been near winning standard over middle distances. Two solid recent trials point to her being ready first up, and the Bell–Snowden combination has a 21% strike rate.

Screen Icon is the clear class horse. She's only raced in stakes company and drops right down to a Kembla maiden. Her Silver Shadow run on a soft track would win this easily: she sat on the speed and held on better than her finishing margin suggests. Latham should use her speed from barrier 6 to put her in a handy spot rather than back in the field. She should win.
She has run well at both starts and was only beaten a nose first up at Hawkesbury. She should be fitter second-up, and her soft-track trial win suggests the going won't bother her. The worry is how she runs her races: she settles back from an inside draw at a track that favours on-pace runners. She needs a clear run in the straight.
Maccbi gets the run you want at Kembla: on the speed or just behind the leader from barrier 5. He was a hard-luck second first up at Hawkesbury after being tightened for room late, and he goes well on a soft track with two seconds from three starts. With only a few genuine leaders, he should get an easy run to the turn.
His second first up at Moruya was one of the best recent runs in this field. He jumps quickest of all and should sit handy, which is where Kembla winners come from, even from barrier 9. He places well on soft ground and second-up, and he rides well for Chad Lever.

DM Plumbing Conditional (Bm68)
Feazabeel is the clear form horse. He has won his last two, the latest in a stronger BM75 race at Canberra, and his soft-track win there before that was the best run by anything in this field. He has won 4 of 5 at the mile and 3 of 6 on soft ground, so today suits him. Top weight and his habit of settling back at a track that favours handy runners are the concerns. With a moderate pace he should still get room to finish off.
Tom Cruising won over this course and distance last start after being held up from the 400m, and he's better than that margin shows. Chad Lever has won 2 of 3 on him and knows how to ride him. He has won only once from 11 soft starts, but he has placed four times on that going and Soft 5 is far kinder than the heavy track that beat him.
Erina is an improving mare who has won her last two from the front, and her speed from barrier 4 should get her a handy spot. She has won on both soft and heavy ground. Her times still need to improve against this stronger field, and leaders have struggled on recent soft tracks here.
Fabrice was well beaten at Rosehill last start, but that was a stronger race. He has one soft-track win and one heavy-track win, so the going is a question rather than a problem.

Suttons Arncliffe Plate (C1)
On form she is the clear top pick. She settles close to the lead and carries a light weight. The wide gate, the step up to 2000m and her unproven soft form are real risks.
A lightly raced, progressive stayer who maps perfectly in second from barrier 2 in a race where the pace should be moderate. He won his 1800m maiden at Randwick last start, and 2000m looks right for him. Class is the question, as is his lack of wet-track experience.
An honest, consistent Class 1 horse whose soft-track record is the best among the leading chances. He settles close enough in the moderate tempo and has been running in the placings in this grade. The 2000m trip is untested and he lacks a finishing kick.
He was narrowly beaten on a soft track in this grade after his rider dropped a rein late. He should roll forward and control a race with little other speed.

Tahnee Provincial (Bm64)
Be Quiet brings the best recent form into the race. At Tuncurry she ran a close second in a Bm74 after being held up early in the straight, and she now drops to Bench 64. She has won both her starts at Kembla Grange and handles wet ground. From barrier 4 she should sit handy in a race with little pace. Top weight and a cold stable are the concerns, but on form she is the one to beat.
His Kembla second on a Soft 5 track came after being held up, and he won his latest trial well. He sits second because this is his first race run since May, he has won only one race, and his map from barrier 8 may leave him too far back if there is little pace.
Me Me has the strongest course-and-distance record in the race, having won a Bm64 here in August, and she ran on well from a poor start last time. She is a proven Bench 64 horse, but she has not placed in four runs on soft ground and usually races near the back.
Bold And Blazen should lead unchallenged. His second over this course and distance last start came off a spell, so there should be improvement in him. His biggest problem is that he rarely wins, and he has never won on soft ground. Leaders have struggled at Kembla recently, so he is best played for a place, although the likely run of the race gives him every chance to hold on.
Our Vinny's form is thin, but his win here came on a Soft 5 track over this course and distance. From barrier 1 with good early speed, he should get a sit just behind the leader in a race with little pace, which is the best position on this track. He ran poorly on heavy ground last time, so today's going should suit him better.
