He led and ran to a winning standard when a close second at this track and grade last start, and his Beaumont win before that was also up to today's class. From barrier 8 he should control the race or sit outside the leader, the ideal spot at Rosehill over this trip.

Midway (Bm72)
The most reliable each-way runner in the race. She was third behind Better Late here last start under 49kg and meets him on similar terms, so reversing the result is unlikely, but she should again be in the finish. Nine placings from eleven starts, an inside draw and a light weight give her every chance to run into the placings at worst. Her habit of finishing third rather than first means the place option is the sensible play.
Vexxy is the improver of the race. Her Randwick second at this grade was full of merit and her career is on an upward curve after only five starts. The problem is the draw. From barrier 13 she will settle near the tail in a race that maps to be only moderately run, and Rosehill is unkind to that pattern.
He was beaten a lip in this grade at Rosehill in July, then won at Hawkesbury and ran a close fourth at Wyong under 60.5kg. He drops to 57.5kg today and should settle in the first five from barrier 6, the right spot on this track. The obvious knock is that all four of his wins came on wet ground and he is winless on Good tracks, but he has placed three times on it and his recent runs are as good as most in this field.

The map is the key: three genuine leaders should ensure a strong tempo, which plays into the hands of a strong finisher drawn in barrier 2.
Zou Force had every excuse for his fourth in the Highway at Rosehill last time when caught wide without cover from the outside gate. Drawn in barrier 5 today he can get cover in midfield behind a very fast tempo and be finishing when the leaders fold.
Condone is the each-way overlay in the race. His last-start sixth at Rosehill in a stronger grade was better than the result, as he came from last and made ground into a race that did not suit him. Today he drops in class, gets a jockey who wins nearly half the time for this stable, and will have a very fast tempo to run into.

Asahi Super Dry Colin Stephen Quality
So You Are set the standard for this field when he led and won the Drinkwise Cup at Randwick over 2400m on good ground, beating three of today's rivals. He gets a lone lead on a track and trip where front-runners hold a clear edge, and a slow tempo lets him dictate.
However her record on good ground is the concern, with four seconds and no wins in eleven tries, and her form this prep is honest rather than dominant.
Amplify has quietly put together two strong runs at Cup level, finishing a close third behind So You Are and Fernao at Randwick before running fourth at Newcastle last week in a race where she was inconvenienced late. Good ground is a real positive for her, and Zac Lloyd is the form jockey. The quick back-up and a map that has her settling behind the pace in a slow race are the concerns. A place chance who can win if the pace is stronger than expected.
Fernao is the value in the race. He was beaten under two lengths by So You Are at Randwick over this trip three weeks ago and his effort that day was as good as anything in the field. He is drawn to save ground from barrier 2, drops to 53kg on his favoured good ground and has placed in 13 of 30 starts.

He draws barrier 1, races on the pace and gets a moderate tempo, which is the winning profile at Rosehill.
However he is drawn to settle back in the field over a trip where Rosehill winners come from on the pace, and he has yet to win on good ground.
He draws well, races handy and is lightly raced with clear improvement in him, so he rates a genuine each-way chance.

Cross Tasman is the most likely winner on form. His Goulburn Cup placing first-up was a solid foundation and Zac Lloyd is riding in top form.
Decorum is four from six, won impressively first-up despite traffic problems and has never been beaten second-up. He is the horse with the most improvement left.
He draws the inside, maps to sit just off a moderate pace and gets Kerrin McEvoy back on.
Silvanito is the overlay in the race. His last three runs, all at Rosehill, have each measured up to a winning standard and his August third over this distance was among the best runs in this field. He won here last start, drops to 55.5kg for the class rise and maps to sit midfield behind a moderate tempo on a track that favours handy runners.

Grant Burge Heritage Stakes
Blue Door's two seconds this preparation were the strongest runs in this field, both at Rosehill over today's trip against stronger opposition than she meets here. She already owns a Group 3 win and has never missed a place. The map is kind with a moderate tempo and a leader-friendly track, and if Our Emperor takes her on she can sit outside or behind him and pounce.
He is unbeaten, has already won at Rosehill over this trip, and his last-start win here was a strong performance for the grade despite a slow beginning. The concerns are real: both wins were on rain-affected ground, he gets back in his races on a track that has been unkind to backmarkers, and his trials have been quiet. James McDonald riding for Waller says the stable expects him to measure up.
Our Emperor is the wildcard. His only start was a runaway maiden win on heavy ground, and everything since has been trials. The Waterhouse and Bott stable rarely throws a lightly raced colt into Group company without reason. The class rise is steep and the barrier is wide, but a soft lead would make him very hard to run down.
Half Pipe is the value in the race.

Lazzura is the class of the race: a Group 1 runner-up at 1400m, a proven second-up performer and a Rosehill specialist who ran to a winning standard in the Sheraco last start when the 1200m trip was sharp for her. She maps beautifully to sit third behind two leaders on a track that favours on-pace runners.
She is a prolific placegetter on good ground and will roll forward from a mid draw on a track that suits her style.
Surfin' Bird is the map horse. She is the quickest to begin, draws barrier 3 and gets 54kg on a track where leaders win most races on good ground. Her Eagle Farm win over a mile in June was strong and she has won five of nine. The concerns are a class rise into a Group 2 without a stakes win to her name and the fact she resumes off two modest trials after a break since June, so she is a place selection rather than a win play.
Verona Rose is the overlay in the race. She is a Group 2 winner at this distance, a proven second-up performer and her Coolmore Classic run in the autumn was of a quality that would win most races of this class. Her first-up third in the Theo Marks was a solid platform.

Guest House is the class of the field as a Golden Slipper winner and his first-up San Domenico win was the strongest run any of these has produced. He maps beautifully from barrier 5 to sit handy in a moderately-run race at a track where on-pace runners dominate. The step to 1400m is the query, but he came from well back to win the Slipper, which suggests he will relax and see out the trip.
St Gotthard was game in defeat in the Run To The Rose and his stronger finishing style should be better suited by 1400m. From barrier 9 he will need to be ridden with intent to land on the speed, but James McDonald is the right man for that task.
Warwoven proved a tough colt when holding off St Gotthard in the Run To The Rose, sitting outside the leader and fighting hard. Barrier 1 and his natural early speed give him the perfect run on a track that rewards on-pace horses. The trainer is in tremendous form. The main question is whether he sees out 1400m under Group 1 pressure.
His Run To The Rose seventh was a genuine forgive run over a distance short of his best, from a wide gate that forced him to the rear. The rise to 1400m and the extra fitness of a second-up run should see sharp improvement.

Skyhook's Theo Marks win here a fortnight ago was the strongest recent performance in this field, and he did it from barrier 13 with a genuine finishing burst. Today he draws inside, maps to sit fourth behind a lone leader in what shapes as a slowly-run race, and Rosehill on soft going has strongly favoured on-pace runners. His heavy-track Gunsynd win answers the wet question.
A genuine wet-tracker who gets his conditions back. Private Eye's Tramway failure came on firm ground and the rider reported he never travelled, while his previous run on Soft 6 at Caulfield was a fighting Group 2 second when leading. He draws to be on-pace behind Sovereign Hill in a race likely run at a modest tempo, and this track has rewarded that position.
The horse for this course and distance. Estadio Mestalla's Rosehill 1500m record is outstanding and he handles soft going. His Theo Marks ninth was better than the result after being shifted back from a wide gate, and he ran home over beaten horses when the race turned into a sprint. The issue is the map: he needs to come from behind in a race with only one genuine leader, and his second-up record is unappealing.
He steps up to a distance where he has won three of six, and the rails draw and forward racing style put him exactly where Rosehill winners come from. He is a kilo better off with Skyhook and his second-up record is strong.
The each-way interest. Sovereign Hill is the only horse in this field that wants to lead, carries just 53kg and comes to a track where front-runners on soft ground have won at close to double the rate of any other position. If he gets an uncontested lead at his own tempo he can give this a real shake.

Her Scone Listed second at this trip is the best run over 1100m in this field, and she has won and placed on good ground at every 1100m start. She should land on the speed from a mid barrier, the profile that dominates Rosehill sprints. The Queensland flop came with interference from the jump.
Kimberley Secrets is the most reliable runner in the race and arguably the most consistent form. She has run to winning standard at her last two, both beaten under a length at this class and trip, and last start was with no cover from barrier 10. Today she draws the fence and will get every favour behind the speed. The knock is that she keeps finding one to beat her, so she is best played for the place.
Farnicle has the most upside in the race but the most questions. His Rosehill second in the Tapp-Craig was a run of genuine class and the trials suggest he retains ability, while barrier 2 is a plus. However he has not raced since last October, carries 61kg over a sharp 1100m and is likely to settle a little further back than the ideal spot here.
Royal Commodore is a horse with a real winning habit who has been overlooked because his best form is on wet tracks and he draws wide. He won two Class 4 races in a row last autumn at winning standard, has trialled nicely and gets the in-form Nash Rawiller for a stable striking at 30 percent.
