Lacevinsky is the one with proven course-damage: he won this exact Junction BM56+ race over 1400m last year and has a strong record at the distance. The map should allow him to settle just off Soaring Solo and take over in the short straight. Last start he was checked near the 200m, so the margin flattered the defeat. The obvious negatives are the 62kg impost, age and moderate soft-ground profile, but no rival has a standout wet-track record either.

Gate 15 (Bm56+)
She does have the most tactical speed in the field and a recent 1200m win, which makes her a genuine threat if she gets her own way in front on the tight Junction circuit. Her soft-track profile is ordinary and the 1400m query remains significant, so she rates second rather than the main winning chance.
Blowin' Smoke produced the strongest closing effort of the key chances last start, running fourth after being last in the run. He meets several of those same rivals very well at the weights with 51.5kg. The tactical query is real though: Junction's short straight and likely slow tempo do not favour deep closers, so he needs to be ridden closer or have the leaders come back. He is a place prospect rather than the primary winning selection.
Dragonflies is the value play at a big number. He has already won at Junction and owns a respectable soft-track record, with three placings from five starts. His recent form is plain, but this is an inconsistent BM56+ country field and he gets an inside draw at 55kg.

Coupe Deburj is the most reliable form runner. The wet track is a positive given her soft-ground placing, while 1400m is a slight unknown but likely within range at this level. She maps to be charging late and appeals as the most probable winner despite the jockey change.
She has been racing in BM56+ and CL1 company, so this maiden assignment represents a clear drop in grade, and the 52kg weight plus gate 3 are advantages. The major negatives are an 0-for-37 record, a poor 1400m record and no wet-ground form.
Radio Silence is well drawn and has the early speed to hold a prominent position on Junction's turning course. The recent form reads as ordinary, but this step to 1400m may be exactly what she needs. In a weak race, she rates as a place chance with possible win upside.
She produced her best career effort last start over 1400m, and from barrier 1 with only 54kg she should get the economical run this tight country circuit demands. Her overall record is modest and the formline is not strong, but in a below-average maiden with an inside gate she is clearly overpriced and worth a small each-way ticket.

Elders (Bm48+)
Space Ace profiles as the one to beat in a messy BM48. He has been racing in higher BM56+/CL1 company, including a close second in a Carnarvon CL1 over a mile and a solid fifth in a BM56+ when last seen. Today's drop to BM48 is significant, and his early speed from barrier two is ideal for Junction's tight circuit. The 1400m and Soft 5 are minor queries, but his overall form and map superiority give him the best winning chance.
Hot Nova has sound recent country form around this trip, finishing third in a CL3 1400m event at Carnarvon before failing over an unsuitable 1200m in BM56 company. Placed in CL1 races at 1400m earlier in the preparation, she drops back to BM48 level where her fitness and on-pace pattern project well. The knock is a poor overall strike rate and no Soft 5 wins, but she maps better than most and should run a competitive race.
Jet Planes is hard to catch but is one of the few runners with wet-track evidence, having run second over 1400m on a Soft 5 at Kalgoorlie in June. He has competed in BM56/58 company recently, so the BM48 assignment offers a class edge. His early speed in barrier seven keeps him in contention at a tight circuit, and he is weighted to run a forward race.
Run Teddy Run rates as the value runner. No soft-track starts is a concern, and his back-running pattern requires luck in Junction's short straight.

Carnarvon Electrics (Bm48+)
Her pattern is to race forward, which is a real asset at Junction, and she has been hitting the line consistently in maiden and BM company. The negatives are an unblemished 1200m winning record and a lack of soft-track placings, but in an open BM48 she remains the most likely winner.
Mrs Kangaroo has the strongest course-specific profile in the race, having won both previous starts at Junction, including this class and distance last year. She is a sound country galloper who should be strong late from a good draw. The main risks are the 58kg impost and her lack of a soft-track victory, making her a quality place play rather than the top win selection.
Dashing Diva produced her best career run last start when finishing third in a BM56, and that form reads well for a BM48. From barrier 4 she can work into a favourable position on the tight Junction circuit.
Fuzzybox is the value runner because her race shape and draw are ideal for a leader-biased Junction circuit. She should cross or hold the lead from barrier 3, and her last-start second in Class 1 is strong enough to be competitive at BM48 level.

THEM Earthmoving (Bm56+)
Shooting Kontiki maps as the only natural leader in a small 1200m Junction field, where early position is critical. His 1200m record of 26 starts for 50% top-three finishes and recent close second in this grade give him a strong base. He drops from BM64 to BM56+ company and handles cut in the ground without being a specialist.
His 1200m record is only 1-from-13, and he is unplaced on both soft and heavy going. The class drop from BM68+ is real, and barrier 3 offers a kind run, which keeps him a serious place chance. However, on the likely soft surface and this compact track, he is not as reliable as the on-pace leader.
Smart Return won this BM56+ 1200m grade two starts back and was far from disgraced last time after rearing at the start. From barrier 4 with 53.5kg and early speed, she should camp close enough to take advantage of Junction's short straight. The main knock is a winless soft-track record, with her worst run coming on Soft 7 at Ararat. If the surface only reaches Soft 5, her low weight gives her genuine third-selection claims.
Casino Royale is the value runner. He has placed on his only visit to Junction, maps handily, and receives a significant weight advantage with 54kg. He won a 1200m Class 1 at Carnarvon two starts back, and his poor latest run can be partly excused by a lost plate after leading.

Shire of Upper Gascoyne Junction Cup (Bm62+)
Lutz is the strongest convergence of race-specific factors. All three career starts at Junction over 1900m produced a win or a place, including a runner-up performance in this same BM62+ race last year. He drops from Open class to BM62+, draws the inside of the field and can settle just off the speed, which is the ideal pattern at this tight circuit. His last two poor runs came over 2200m in much harder grade and can be forgiven.
Odin Omen is the clear form horse of the race, having won over 1750m and then finished a close second at his latest start. He also handles soft ground and carries just 53kg. However, he has no Junction form, limited distance experience, and a backmarker pattern that works against him in a predicted slow-run race on a tight circuit.
Candlelight Sherif is the most reliable on-pace threat in the race. He has been consistent through the winter with a string of seconds and thirds around 1600m-1750m, and his racing pattern is well suited to Junction's sharp turns and short straight. The main concerns are his class rise to BM62+ and lack of wet-track production.
Her 1900m record of one win, three seconds and two thirds is the best distance profile in the race outside Lutz, and she has been competitive in BM64+ over this exact trip. She also has placed on soft ground and finished a credible fourth last start over 2070m.
