Neil Mansell (Bm62)
Butt Heads is the most reliable place proposition. He maps handy from barrier 5 in what shapes as a moderate tempo, which suits the track's on-pace lean.
Kingsland has the strongest combination of proven track-and-distance form and class relief. Four starts at Toowoomba over this trip have produced a win and two thirds. The negative is barrier 10 and a midfield map at a venue that rewards forward position, which is why he sits second rather than first, but the raw ability is the equal of any here.

Sr Frances Flint CSB Hcp (C2)
The most proven runner at the specifics of today's assignment. Barrier 7 and the weight are the only genuine queries.
The best-mapped runner in the race. Her Toowoomba record of 3:1-1-1 is excellent and Lenton's 17% local strike rate is the best booking in the race. The class rise from Restricted 58 and a modest 1-from-11 win record are the reasons she rates just behind the top pick rather than ahead of it.
Her Dalby run can be lined through given she was severely hampered leaving the gates. The concerns are structural rather than form-based: she settles too far back for a tight 1015m at Clifford Park where on-pace runners hold sway, she wins rarely, and the jockey booking is out of form. Solid each-way claims.

Toowoomba Mazda (Bm70)
He won over virtually this trip at this track in this exact grade last start, and has a 10:4-2-3 record at Clifford Park including a win from his only try at track and distance. The 61.5kg and barrier 8 are genuine concerns on a tight, on-pace-favouring circuit, but his class edge and proven course mastery outweigh them.
The specialist for these precise conditions. He won over 1640m at Toowoomba in July humping 60.5kg and is 2:1-0-1 at track and distance, with a broader 17:3-4-4 course record. Barrier 4 and his handy racing pattern fit the venue's on-pace bias perfectly in a moderate tempo.
The most talented but least reliable runner in the race. He is 3:2-0-0 at Toowoomba and won here over 1300m in early August despite a slow beginning and interference. His form is inconsistent and last start he was beaten a long way, so he is a threat rather than a certainty.
Significantly overpriced on distance credentials. His 8:3-2-1 at this trip and 3:1-1-1 at track and distance are the strongest course-and-distance numbers in the field, and he ran second over 1625m here in December beaten nothing.

Brett Willmot Accounting (Bm58)
He beat Power Of Success by a length at Kilcoy last start over 1900m and, while 2kg worse off today, he is the horse trending upward with a 24% career win strike rate against 11%. Slow tempo, handy position, proven Good-track record.
He is 2kg better off with The Cops at the weights, which nearly squares that formline. Against him: 60kg top weight, an unproven trip at 2030m, and a persistent tendency to over-race.
Her Kilcoy run was better than the bare 5th suggests — awkward beginning, held up on the turn, still only two lengths off in the same race The Cops won. Toowoomba form is respectable and the class drop helps. The wide gate and a likely slow tempo are the obstacles to a win.
Two runs back she won a Class 1 over 2220m, and before that ran 3rd at Toowoomba over 1890m from 10th at the 400m. Each-way value.

Akku is the most exposed and most reliable form line in a shallow maiden. Seven starts around this trip have produced a second and a third. Barrier 4 lets her sit fourth in a race with a strong on-pace bias, and at 1125m over a fitter, more suitable trip she is the one they must beat.
Class says she should win; the going and current trend say she is short. Place only.
The step to 1125m suits a mare who has been finishing off strongly.

Empire of Japan (Bm65)
Clearly the best horse in the race on class. Gate 2 and an on-pace pattern fit a track that rewards forward positions in sprints, and he has won both first-up starts.
The clear second string on ability. The worry is the map - settling last into a moderate tempo on a track that favours forward runners makes her reliant on luck, so place cover is the sensible play.
The map horse.
The overlay of the race. He owns the best collective record around 1000m in the field and has the speed to sit forward on a track that suits it.

The most reliable form line in a weak maiden.
The clear speed of the race on paper and the type Toowoomba maidens favour, with leaders and on-pace runners dominating (17-18% win rates). Trialled well at the track late July and comes to a Geran stable in-form patch.
A well-bred, lightly raced mare whose two runs both carried legitimate interference excuses. The reservations are real: still a non-winner, top weight, unproven at 1300m, and a jockey without a strike for this stable.
Second up off a 28-day break, the 1300m looks a positive for a horse whose run pattern is one-paced early and strong late. The 60kg and wide gate are genuine negatives at a tight circuit, but the class edge over these maidens is decisive.
The catch is the map: she settles last and Toowoomba punishes backmarkers. If the two leaders press each other over 1300m, her turn of foot is decisive. Each-way value.
