Yes Donald Yes beat a similar field here over the same trip two weeks ago and did it with a run that would win most races at this grade - the strongest recent effort in this line-up. Three leaders should ensure a genuine tempo, and he settles just off them from a good gate. The class rise is real but his last start says he is already better than this level.

Swift Duke is the most consistent horse in the race and his get-back-and-run-on style is ideal for a race with three horses wanting to lead. He has already run to a winning level at this grade and was competitive in stronger company last start.
Bad Boss is the sneaky improver. His maiden win was strong and every one of his recent runs would have measured up in this grade, which is unusual for a horse straight out of maiden company.
Out Of Luck is an obvious each-way overlay.

The clear form horse. She has won two of four, both against proper 3yo handicap company in town, and her Eagle Farm second over this trip was a winning-standard run where she beat home Star Of The Bar. Two genuine leaders plus Maria Clara pressing should give her enough tempo to run down from behind, and barrier one keeps her out of trouble.
He won second-up last preparation and has raced in strong 2yo company at Eagle Farm before.
His Ipswich maiden win was a good one and he has been competitive on the pace before, so he is capable of measuring up. However he has only ever beaten maidens, his stable is in poor form, and no jockey is named. Exceed The Sale has done far more in stronger races, so this horse is selected as a place chance rather than the winner.
A genuine overlay. Blinkers made the difference and he retains them, and the stable and jockey combination wins regularly together.

Taravia is the improver of the race. He is unbeaten at 2200m, gets in with a light weight, and from barrier four should be able to sit on or near the speed in what shapes as a slowly-run staying race.
His Doomben effort two starts back was up to a winning standard.
From barrier two with a light weight she should get every chance in a race that lacks genuine tempo. The question is whether she can repeat that effort, as her runs before the win were ordinary and she has a modest strike rate.
Brain Wave is the value runner. She races on the speed, which is exactly the profile that wins at Gold Coast, and she carries a feather weight for a hot stable.

Barrier 2 is a real advantage in Gold Coast sprints and lets her sit closer than the wide-drawn backmarkers she meets.
On a track that favours on-pace runners with a lone leader setting a moderate tempo, he needs luck.
She draws barrier 4 and should get a soft run behind the lone leader.
Moscow Circus is the value on the map. She is the only true leader in the race and should control a moderate tempo on a track where on-pace runners hold a real edge. She ran second at this course and distance in the same grade at the last meeting and gets a weight relief through the apprentice claim. Each-way with a small stake.

He maps perfectly from barrier 3 to sit behind North Pole and Thinkhardandfast on a track that rewards on-pace runners, and he gets in light.
North Pole is the proven Class 6 horse in the field and both of his recent seconds were run to a level that wins ordinary Class 6 races. He has the early speed to cross from the wide gate and should dictate a moderate tempo, which historically suits leaders here. The concerns are a preference for softer ground, a habit of being run down late, and the wide barrier forcing early effort.
He begins slowly, draws the outside gate and needs a genuine tempo to run over the top of them, and this race projects as moderately run with the leaders favoured.
Rock Hard Love is the overlay in the race. His Class 5 win at Doomben three weeks ago was arguably the strongest recent performance of any runner here, and he followed it with a placing effort at Sunshine Coast before that. The last start flop came after covering ground early on soft footing and can be forgiven on the pattern of his career.

Spirit Of Barty has run to a winning standard in each of her last five starts, including a head second when held up at Eagle Farm. She gets in with just 52.5kg, maps to a handy position from a middle gate behind the lone speed, and the Gold Coast rewards exactly that pattern. Serial seconds are the concern, but she is the most likely winner.
Bonded Affair is racing as well as any in the field, winning a Class 5 at the Sunshine Coast last Friday and finishing third at this grade at Eagle Farm before that. He is a confirmed 1000m horse and the fast early speed anticipated here should give him something to run at. The obvious knock is the running style: he settles last and this track rewards forward runners, while the connections have a weak record here.
The Fixer has a strong sprint record and his two runs this preparation, a second at this level and a fair effort behind better horses when hampered at the start, put him right in the mix. He races on the speed, which is the right way to go here, and has already won at the track over this trip.
He has already won at the Gold Coast over 1000m, ran a solid fourth at this grade at Doomben last start from well back, and has a rider who has won four times on him. With a lone leader and several pressers expected to set a quick tempo, the inside draw should allow him to slide through and finish strongly.

Grand Impact has been running to a winning standard at every recent start in Sydney Saturday grade that is stronger than this provincial Open, only finding one better each time. He gets the ideal setup here: barrier 2, likely to lead, a moderate tempo and a track that strongly favours on-pace runners from inside gates. The step to 1400m and the interstate trip are the only queries.
The clear overlay in the race. Deep Respect has won and then run a close second in the last two Gold Coast Open Handicaps over this trip, and his win here in late August was the best run any horse in this field has produced recently.
Kintyre is the on-pace runner best placed to take advantage if Grand Impact does not run out a strong 1400m. He won the Eagle Farm Open over this trip a fortnight ago, and his Doomben third before that carrying a big weight after racing wide was a good effort. Barrier 4 and his early speed should land him in the ideal spot on this on-speed track.
Sir Artie is a proven good-track performer who won an Open at Eagle Farm over this distance in July and his Doomben run last week carrying 60kg was better than the sixth placing suggests. Today he sheds 7kg to 53kg with a jockey who wins regularly for this stable.

Sky Racing (Bm78)
Metaphorically's Ipswich win with the blinkers removed was the standout effort in this field, produced on-pace under a positive ride. The two leaders are drawn 11 and 13 and must work to cross, while he can slot into the box seat from gate 1 with the lightest weight of the main chances.
On raw form Detrimental has the strongest recent profile here, with back-to-back runs to a winning standard at Beaudesert and Eagle Farm. The problem is the draw. From barrier 13 he either burns early to lead or gets caught wide, and outside gates at this track have a dismal record. If Jai Williams can find the front without a fight, he is very hard to hold out.
Chief In Charge has the best distance record in the race and comes to his peak second-up, stepping back to 1400m where he has won four times. He was luckless at Eagle Farm last start but showed he was fit. The concern is the map: from gate 12 he will get back in a race with only two leaders and a moderate tempo, on a track that favours on-pace runners. He is a strong place chance and a winner if the speed collapses.

Zarraffa's Coffee Pink Ribbon Cup (Bm78)
Carravilla is the most reliable form horse in the race. She has been placed at BM78 level, ran a strong third at Doomben last start on a good track, and has four wins from eleven on good ground. Barrier 4 lets her settle just off two keen leaders, the ideal spot when the pace is on.
She is lightly raced, wins on good ground and gets the fast tempo she needs from barrier 3.
All Kinds Of Folk brings the best recent form into the race, having won a Sydney BM78 at her last start over 1800m. She has performed well fresh before and a fast tempo will let her finish over the top of the leaders. The worry is the ground: she has no wins from eight starts on good tracks and today drops back to 1400m first up with top weight.
She has already won over this course and distance on a good track, and her nose second at BM85 level over 1400m in July is better form than most in this field can show. Her last-start seventh was at 1200m, a trip too short for her, and served as a fitness run. Barrier 1 lets her settle midfield behind two keen leaders and pounce late.

Dreamweavers (Bm85)
She is a proven good-track mare who settles handy, so a strong tempo from two leaders sets the race up for her to pounce in the straight. The wide gate and weight rise are the only queries, and neither is enough to take her off top.
Hell has been honest all campaign, placing in this grade and running well in Open company, and today's drop in class is a genuine help. He maps to lead or share the lead from a good gate on a track where leaders hold a strong record.
Ten Deep is the most talented mare in the race on her overall record and a strong finish from midfield would be ideal if the expected tempo materialises. Against that, she returns after a long break, rises steeply in class and draws wide, all of which cap her at third on form.
Gospel Girl won well at Ipswich last start and her prior third against fillies and mares in strong company reads well for this grade.
