On form she is the most likely winner. She is a 3yo filly with a featherweight and a midfield draw. Her risks are the step up to 1400m and the barrier manners.

Aquashield Roofing Mdn
His 11th on debut came after he was hampered and raced greenly from a wide gate, and the run was better than the result. He draws barrier 2, carries light weight and should improve with experience.
He raced well at Wanganui in January and was bumped at the start. He has been to Otaki and gets a handy barrier 5. The trainer is in form. The negatives are the long spell, the top weight in a soft-track maiden and a jockey who has not ridden a winner lately. He is a reasonable place chance.
A proven wet-track performer who has run second twice on Heavy ground, including over 1400m last start. Forward-racing types hold up well on soft ground, and her form is the most consistent of the experienced runners. The top weight and barrier 8 are negatives, and she has yet to win, but she is a solid chance on form.
A good-value roughie. She raced wide from barrier 16 at Hawera, got home well over beaten horses and ran a sharp time for the grade. She improves second-up and gets a good barrier 4 with light weight.

Cavallo Farms & Chris Rutten Bloodstock 3yo
He is the top pick but not a lock.
A consistent filly who has placed in all 3 runs and won her maiden over 1100m with a strong finish. She gets the best of the draw on the rail and carries light weight.
A lightly raced filly who is improving, second up from a spell, and who ran a solid fourth in a maiden from a wide draw in heavy going.
A debutant with no form to go on, so he is judged on his connections. The Lowry and Zydenbos stable has a strong recent strike rate, and Kelly Myers is riding well and wins at 22% with this stable.

Jennian Homes (Bm65)
He handles wet ground, is at the right class and should be handy from barrier 4.
A solid and honest mare who relishes 1200m and wet ground, and a drop from BM75 to BM65 gives her a class edge. She ran creditably in a stronger race last start and comes in with a light weight.
Her best runs show a speed level beyond most of this field, and she won on soft ground over this exact trip. She is the best value in the race and worth an each-way play.

The Tele Ōtaki (Bm65)
On form she is the pick. She is second up, has run well on soft ground and over 1400m, and is drawn well.
He has won on soft ground and over this trip, and his run two starts back was a very good one. He rates a fraction shorter than Intention on proven soft form but not clearly better, so he sits second on form.
A consistent placed horse who has a strong case on trends: he is second up, came off a strong second at Bm65, carries a light weight with a claim, has a good draw and is from a stable running hot. The drawback is that he rarely wins and has not won over 1400m. A strong chance to run a place and could win if things fall right.
She drops in class, has wet-ground form and a stable winning at a very high rate, and she closes well when the race is run honestly. Worth an each-way chance as the value play.

Lucullan is the best performer on form here. He won two of his last three at Bm75 level and ran to a winning standard each time, including a Soft 5 win over 1200m. He is fresh-up with a fair record and carries only 54.5kg. The draw is wide and he steps into Open company, but he is classy enough to overcome that. Platinum Diamond has been disappointing in her last three runs and has never placed on Soft, and Belzoni's form is trending down and he has no win at this distance.
Royal Flower looks the best value in the race. A likely fast tempo should help her finishing run. The wide gate and a sprint trip shorter than her usual are the concerns, but her wet-track record is strong and she is 8 to 14 points longer than her chance warrants.
Amend is a consistent type who has been placed in most of his starts, including his best at 1200m. He ran well in Open company on Soft 7 at Te Rapa two starts back and is seasoned on wet tracks.
A solid second-up runner who finished second last start and ran home well. With four leaders likely to go hard, his midfield, strong-finishing style should work well. Heavy ground is lightly tested but he has won on it.
She has the strongest wet-ground record in the field, is lightly raced and has the inside draw. The main worry is the fast pace expected, because she likes to lead and faded last start when she cut out the early running. She should be able to sit just off the speed from barrier 2 and has the toughness for Heavy ground.
Sinbin is a long shot with some appeal. She has a good draw at barrier 4, a sound distance and Soft record, and ran fourth at Otaki on Soft 5 over this trip. She is fresh-up and her last two runs were plain, so she needs to improve, but a light weight and an in-form jockey help.

Harcourts Ōtaki (Bm75)
He has already won this course and distance, has two wins from six at 1400m and two from five on soft, and his heavy sixth at Hawera two weeks ago was a much better performance than the placing suggests. Gavin Sharrock has won eight of his last 20 starters. Barrier 11 is only a mild knock.
Barrier 4 is a genuine Otaki plus and Kelly Myers is riding at a 25 percent clip. The query is the surface and the trip: he is four from five on heavy but only a third from four on soft, and he has never won at 1400m. He is a clear place chance with the top weight to carry.
That profile keeps her in the first three.
He is first-up, a profile in which he has won once from two, and he drops sharply in class with a 2kg claim.

He won on soft at Te Rapa, then ran a strong third against open-class rivals last start. He should be handy in a likely slow-run race, and he is second up with a hot stable and jockey.
He has a high strike rate, light weight and the speed to take a good position in a slow-run race. He is a safe place option.
On pure ability he may be the best horse in the race, with his recent wins at 1600m on wet ground coming against rivals of similar standard. The concern is the wide draw and a likely slow tempo, which could make it hard to make up ground.
He is the main leader and has won a Listed race here at 1600m on soft ground, which is a decent record. With little other speed in the race, he could dictate a slow tempo and be hard to catch.

Ōtaki Tyre Repairs (Bm65)
Won last start over this exact trip at the same grade, and she did it comfortably. A mid-field draw in a race likely to be run at a steady tempo suits her, and the stable is flying.
Her recent runs carrying 68kg were among the best in the field, and she now gets around 10kg relief at a track and distance where handy runners are favoured.
A seasoned veteran who has been running well above this grade and drops in class with a much better draw than last start, when he was wide and never had a clear run. Light weight and a 2kg claim help in the soft going.
A tough veteran who has been right in the finish of races like this and is a proven stayer on wet tracks.
