His Frank Packer Plate win was the best performance in this field by a wide margin, and his Carbine Club third over this exact course and going shows the mile on soft ground is no issue. He drops to 53kg, draws the fence and maps to sit just off a slow tempo, which is the winning pattern at Randwick.

Big Dance Wild Card Hcp
It's A Knockout is an honest mare whose form reads well for a race like this. She handles wet ground as well as anything here, has a terrific placing record at Randwick, and drops to 52kg after competing in stronger metropolitan races. Her last two runs at the mile were both sound, and the Heavy 9 second at this track in July confirms she relishes the conditions.
Tavi Time is the second-best horse in the race on class and his soft-track record is exceptional, but the setup is far from ideal. He is now racing from the back, carries the big weight, and the predicted slow tempo at a track that rarely rewards closers counts against him. His second-up record and Scone Cup run when held up suggest the ability is still there. He should run on strongly for a placing, but needs luck and genuine pace to win.
Pier Pressure is the overlay in the race. The map is ideal: she draws inside, has the early speed to sit second or third behind a lone leader, and drops to 52kg after carrying 59.5kg into a close third at Warwick Farm. Randwick on soft ground heavily favours on-pace runners, and her Kensington heavy-track second shows she handles wet going at a winning standard.

A midfield stalking run from barrier 7 behind a slow pace should suit at Randwick, and McDonald's booking adds confidence.
A genuine wet-track filly who gets the on-pace run that Randwick rewards. She should be comfortable in the first three or four in a slowly run race. Her last run was spoiled by traffic, and her earlier wins were strong.
A natural leader in a race that looks short of early speed, and Randwick favours horses on the pace. If she crosses from barrier 11 she could dictate terms and be hard to run down.
A lightly raced filly with the right running style for this track and a slow tempo. She was second at her only start over 1400m and gets a light weight. She looks overpriced as a place chance with some upside.

Asahi Super Dry Angst Stakes
The Mona Lisa is the pick on form. She has a superb Randwick mile record, wins on soft ground and will race on or near the pace in a race likely to be run slowly. She carries just 54kg and her recent efforts have all been to a winning standard. This is the strongest overlay in the race.
Pillow Fight is the only true leader in the race and gets the slow tempo she wants. Randwick rewards forward runners on rain-affected ground, and she has run well in better company earlier in the campaign.
She won her last start over this course and distance on soft ground and rarely runs a bad race. The concern is the map: she is likely to settle well back in a slowly-run race on a track that favours forward runners.
Transcend has been in good form against fillies and mares in Bm78 grade, racing handy on soft tracks. Her pattern suits a slow-tempo mile, and Tommy Berry knows her well.

The Agency Real Estate St Leger Stakes
He has won his last two, led or sat second both times, and gets the rail with no other proven leader. Soft ground holds no fears. Randwick favours on-pace runners and the slow tempo suits him. The extra 200m is a small query, but his place record shows he stays. He is the most likely winner.
A proven soft-ground winner who gets the forward position that suits Randwick. He found The Metropolitan too strong but is now dropping in class, and his Listed wins show he is well suited by this grade. The question is whether he sees out 2600m after fading late last start.
A genuine place chance with a featherweight. She has been placed in her last three Group and Listed starts and has the cover to get into the race. She is more of a consistent placegetter than a clear winner, and the 2600m trip is untested. She rates a good chance of running into a place.
His last-start win came over beaten horses in a slowly run race, and top weight over a longer trip leaves little room.
The lone leader in a slow-tempo race at a track that rewards forward runners. His recent form has been strong and he gets in with light weight.
He should settle just behind the leaders and has run his best races on soft ground. His Rosehill run last start was solid in a Group 3 and the forward pattern is the right one at Randwick.

The Kosciuszko
Chains Of Love shares favouritism and on form she deserves it. With a very fast tempo likely and only 53.5kg, she should get the perfect run into the race off barrier 12. Clear top pick for the win.
So You Pence has done nothing wrong at Randwick on soft ground, winning both starts there in rain-affected conditions, and her fifth in this race last year reads well against today's field. She is a handy settler who should land in the first half dozen even from the wide draw.
The fast tempo and James McDonald's fresh-horse strike rate keep her in the frame, and her first-up record demands respect.
Cruizingthestars has the raw profile of a winner: four from five, unbeaten on soft tracks, a last-start Randwick win and the inside gate with the lightest weight. The speed map lists her as a backmarker but her races show she lands handy, which is the winning spot here.

Toyota Forklifts Sydney Stakes
She has the best mix of class, wet-track credentials and a handy racing pattern in the field. She ran a solid third in the Premiere Stakes on Soft 6 over this course, and she also won a Group 1 on a soft surface. A fast tempo should not hurt her from midfield.
Charm Stone has the best black-type form in the race and drops in grade. She ran a very good first-up third in the Manikato Stakes, so she should be fitter second-up. Her record over 1200m is strong, and she is usually on or near the pace, which is a plus at Randwick.
Grafterburners has improved through this campaign and finished well in the Premiere Stakes on similar ground. The inside barrier should give him a good run in what looks to be a genuine speed duel up front. He has the style to run on late in a fast race, and the track and conditions look suitable.
He has won all three starts on soft ground and has been very effective at Randwick, including a Listed win in the wet. He is likely to be handy from barrier 10, and the track bias favours forward runners. The step up in class is a risk, and the fast tempo could be a negative, but he is well underpriced compared with his form profile.

The TAB Everest
He has beaten Group 1 company by margins no one in this field has matched, and his only losses came early in his career. The unknown is the Soft 7 surface, plus a draw that will see him settle midfield. A genuinely fast tempo should open the race up for his sustained sprint.
Tempted is the best of the chasers. She has won on every Soft track she has raced on, won here two weeks ago and gets a strong finishing sprint that suits a very hot pace.
Joliestar has already won the T J Smith Stakes over this course and distance on a Soft 7 track and is back for a second-up run. McDonald knows her well. She is the best each-way alternative to the top two.
Jimmysstar is a Group 1 winner in form, blinkers on, who loves a fast pace and a wet track. He has placed at Group 1 level over this distance at Randwick, and the very fast tempo should give a late runner a fair chance.

Silver Eagle
Beiwacht is the class runner and the likeliest winner on form. He is a Group 1 winner dropping to Listed grade, with a soft-ground win this campaign. He should lead alone from the inside gate, and handy runners do well at Randwick. His last start was a poor run, but that came at a trip and in a race that did not suit him.
Skyhook arrives in top form with two Group 2 wins and has the tactical speed to sit second behind Beiwacht. He has won on heavy ground and the jockey partnership is highly successful. I rate him just behind Beiwacht on class and wet-track record.
Apocalyptic is a consistent mare who runs well in black-type company and gets a big class break in a Listed race. She should settle handy from a good gate, which suits Randwick, and her soft-track Group 3 third was a solid effort.
Night Agent is the best value in the race. The wide gate is a concern, but McDonald can slot him in just behind the leaders. Black-type company is a step up, but the class drop for others helps his chance.

King Charles III Stakes
The clear form standout. Autumn Glow has won nearly every start, handles soft ground, and has a perfect draw and pattern for a mile at Randwick. The race looks slowly run, which suits an on-pace mare with a strong turn of foot.
A consistent Group performer who was the unlucky runner in the Epsom Handicap. He is the best of the rest on form and wins his share at Randwick, but his usual midfield-to-back run style looks against him if the pace is slow. He needs luck in running and a strong finish from the 400m.
A genuine Group 1 winner, but he got in on a feather weight last start and now has 9kg more on his back. He is a backmarker, and the slow pace predicted on a track that favours forward runners makes it hard for him to win.
She can lead or sit just off the speed in a race that is expected to be steadily run, which suits a track favouring forward runners. Soft ground and a poor record at Randwick are doubts, but she is well placed second up and is the best value of the top three.
A big step up in class, but he has the right run style and wet-weather record for this race. He should lead alone in a slow-run mile, and he has been running good races in Listed company. A small each-way play.

The HKJC World Pool (Bm88)
He was a close second at this level last start and has been first or second in most starts this campaign. Soft ground is fine. The concern is the back-of-field map on a track that favours forward runners, but he has the class and the running-on ability to overcome it.
He has won on soft ground, handles the grade, and should be handy from the gates with a moderate tempo likely.
A progressive front-runner who should enjoy the run of the race on a moderate tempo.
A genuine on-pace type who ran well on the same going at Randwick last start in a higher grade. He drops to BM88 and has won at the track and distance. Barrier 13 is the main hurdle, but he has the speed to cross and find a good position, which is exactly what is required in these conditions.
A mare who has proven herself on soft going and handled Randwick conditions earlier in the year. The wide barrier and back-of-field map are real obstacles, but she is second up and dropping in class.
