The only trial winner in the field, and she did it emphatically at the Sunshine Coast with today's rider aboard. Her pedigree is exactly what you want on a soaking Eagle Farm track, and the Gollan stable rarely sends a two-year-old to a Saturday debut without purpose. She drops 2kg on the colts from a good gate.

The concern is that everything he has shown was on firm ground, and the rider booking is the weakest among the main chances.
Better Than Ready stock are bred for early speed and wet ground, the stable has put a tongue tie on to help him, and the booking of the meeting's hottest rider from an inside gate is telling. His trial was only fair, which keeps him a place chance rather than a win threat, but he fills the third spot comfortably.
He is the only runner with proof he can get through a bog, having trialled on a Heavy 10, and he has the inside gate, blinkers on and a red-hot rider.

Taravia is the clear form horse. He has a strong 2200m record, won on a heavy track at his only try and maps to control the race from barrier six under a slow tempo. The weight rise is the main query, but the class drop more than compensates.
Amelioration is a progressive mare who has won her last two and ran to a winning standard for this grade when taking out the 2200m Class 2 at the Sunshine Coast. She has everything the heavy-track profile asks for: an inside gate, a featherweight after the claim, a handy racing pattern and plenty of soft-track form.
Family Of League is the race's only true leader and has drawn barrier one, so she should be able to roll along at her own tempo on a track where she has already shown she handles heavy going. The step to 2200m is untested and she has stopped late when pressured before, and the undeclared jockey is a real data gap.
Trusty Bandit is a horse in form, having won his last two including a strong finish at this track over a longer trip. He has won on heavy ground, carries a light weight and keeps the jockey who won on him. The concern is the likely slow tempo, which suits the on-pace runners rather than a horse who may settle behind midfield, and the stable's thin record at Eagle Farm.

On a Heavy 9 the form that matters is wet form, and this gelding has the best of it. He bolted in on a Heavy 10 at Ballina over 1300m with 59kg, a run that stands up as the strongest wet effort in this field, then ran to a winning standard in an Open Handicap when wide throughout last start. He races on the speed with a tiny weight and gets a fair draw.
She will lead or sit outside the leader with a light weight, and her Doomben win last start was a genuinely good effort. But she has never seen heavy ground, her only Eagle Farm runs have been plain, and she is now taking on the geldings at a higher level.
On raw ability he is the best horse in the race, with two dominant wins to his name and the strongest recent run in the field. The problem is the conditions. His record shows a horse who thrives on good ground and struggles when it rains, and today he meets a Heavy 9 from barrier 14 with top weight. Keep him safe each-way rather than trust him for the win.
A mare who ticks the heavy-track boxes without the class credentials of the top three. She has won both starts on heavy going, races on the pace and carries a feather weight. The worry is that her last two wins came at country level in modest fashion and she now jumps straight into a Saturday metro field with a jockey short of winning form.

Gaultier's two most impressive runs both came on rain-affected tracks and he has only missed a place once in six starts. He draws the inside, settles handy, and the lone leader Duomo gives him a soft trail on a Heavy 9 that punishes backmarkers. His recent dry-track efforts have been honest rather than dominant, but no rival combines wet form, draw and position as well.
On dry ground Yes Donald Yes would be the horse to beat. He has run to a winning standard at this level repeatedly and was unlucky last start when held up for a run. Today he carries top weight from a wide gate on a Heavy 9, and he likes to get back, which is a tough combination at Eagle Farm in the wet. Still, his class edge is clear and he should be in the finish if he handles the ground.
Astern Effort finally broke through at Doomben last start after a string of placings, and the way he did it suggests he was ready to graduate. His second on a Soft 7 track earlier in the year shows wet ground does not worry him, and he draws well with a light weight.
His two wet-track runs as a two-year-old were both excellent, including a heavy-track maiden win that was the best wet performance anyone here has produced. He gets weight relief as a three-year-old and is second up, the stage at which he won last time in.

Hell To Pay fits the heavy-track template best: proven on wet ground, races forward, light weight, and he ran one of the better recent races in this field at Doomben last week when third from the front. He drops in class and has won his only try at the mile.
Perfect Play is the model of consistency and his forward racing pattern suits a Heavy 9 at Eagle Farm. A solid saver in the first three with the claim bringing him down to a handy weight.
She is in form after winning over this trip at Doomben last week. The problems are barrier 15 at the 1600m start, where inside gates are a big edge, 59.5kg on heavy ground and no declared rider yet.
Bluepinot has done little wrong this preparation: a narrow second in a Bm78 at Doomben, an easy win at Toowoomba, then a sound third behind a Class 6 field at this track and distance. He has won on heavy ground, gets a weight relief and drops in grade. Each-way rather than win only because he races a little further back than the top pick on a Heavy 9.
Naval Seal is a known wet-tracker with a heavy win and placings, and his Gold Coast second in September was the standout recent run in this race. He has also won over this track and distance.

She maps to sit on the speed from an inside draw with the lightest weight in the race, which is exactly what suits a Heavy 9.
Dark Arts produced the best run in the field at his last start, when he came from last at the home turn to finish third here over 1200m in Class 3 company after being slow away and held up. He has won on a heavy track and has a good record at this course and distance. The issue is that he rarely wins, and with no natural leader he could again be left too far back in a modestly run race.
He has been racing keenly and not finishing off, but the softer company and an in-form Ben Thompson can help him settle on the fence from barrier 1.
On class and fitness he is the chief danger. His Doomben third resuming was the strongest recent run in this field and he improves second up, with the stable in red-hot form. The problem is the gate. From 17 he either burns early to cross into a very fast tempo or sits three wide for the trip, and his form shows he folds when that happens.
She won on heavy ground over this trip eight days ago, has a win from her only start at Eagle Farm, and will be ridden forward with just 54kg after the claim in a race where the lead is up for grabs. Even so, a fit, light-weighted heavy-track winner on the speed is overpriced in a field with few proven wet performers.

On a Heavy 9 the form that matters most is Cool Gent's Oxlade Stakes win here over 1200m in identical conditions, the best wet-track run in the race by a margin. His resuming effort was excused by trouble at the start over a trip too short.
The problem is the ground. Her only heavy-track start at this course was a flat effort where the jockey reported she failed to respond because of the going.
Her two runs have both reached a winning standard, and her Eagle Farm effort when caught wide was better than the finishing position suggests. She races forward, carries just 53.5kg and has the right wet-track pedigree. The wide draw is the chief worry, as gate 13 means she either burns fuel crossing or races three deep. She is a solid each-way chance in a field with few proven Open-class runners.
In great heart with two straight wins and a run of consistent performances, and her on-pace style with 54kg is the type that goes well on wet Eagle Farm sprints. She will need to work from barrier 9 to find a spot behind the leader, and the only time she met a genuinely heavy surface the rider blamed the ground.
Zoureka ticks the heavy-track boxes that most of this field cannot. She draws the rail, carries the lightest weight, and the map has her as the lone leader in a moderately run race. She did fold late over 1200m here on debut when taken on, so an uncontested lead is important.

Fleetwood has the best recent form in the race and the strongest heavy-track credentials, winning both starts on this ground. His Open Handicap second here three weeks ago was the standout run in this field and he meets softer company today with a 3kg claim.
Stiktodascrypt ticks the heavy-track boxes: a dominant Heavy 9 win over this exact distance, the lightest weight in the field, an inside gate and enough early speed to be in the first four. He is a lightly raced gelding still on the way up. The concerns are real, though.
He was impressive first up at Doomben, winning his trial beforehand, and his sole heavy-track start was a win. He maps to be prominent in a race lacking a natural leader. However, he has twice been beaten comprehensively in this grade, often starts slowly, and his jockey has a weak record here.
Royal Commodore is the value runner. He was a dominant sprinter earlier this year, winning three in a row including a bolt-in at the Sunshine Coast over 1000m on soft ground, and he has four wins from six wet-track starts. His Rosehill failure can be forgiven as he refused to settle. Reunited with Jett Newman, who is two from two on him, and down to 51kg, he can roll forward from the wide gate at a chute start that does not punish outside draws.

Get Ready Lass is the form horse at this course and distance. She maps to sit fourth behind the lone leader from barrier 5 and has won twice on soft ground.
She has won four of nine, placed in every run this campaign and was beaten under a length last Saturday. Her soft-track record is perfect from two starts and the Gollan yard knows this track well.
Divine Source brings the one asset nobody else has, uncontested early speed. With 52kg and barrier 4 she should find the front and set a moderate pace on the heavy ground, the ideal scenario for a leader. Her first-up Doomben win was sound and the stable is firing. The concerns are a rise in class, an untested heavy-track record and a weaker second-up pattern.
Cantiamo is the wet-track specialist of the field and gets the ideal conditions after a luckless run at Warwick Farm where she was held up twice in the straight. She has a win on heavy ground, a strong second-up record and has beaten better fields in Sydney than she meets here. The draw and a predicted rearward position are the concerns on a track that favours forward runners, but Ryan Maloney should get her into a handy spot.
Mercurial Lady is the value runner. Her win here on Heavy 8 ground under 60kg in May was the best single performance by any horse in this race and she now carries 3.5kg less from barrier 2 on similar ground.

All Kinds Of Folk is the only runner with a flawless heavy-track record, and her Randwick Heavy 9 win was a genuinely strong performance. She beat a fair field at Doomben last week under 58kg and drops to 52kg today, which matters on a Heavy 9. She raced close enough to Cunnamulla Fella and Brindavan here first-up and has improved since.
Esjay has the class edge in this field with Listed placings and a 30% win strike rate, and he thrives on wet ground with six wins from 13 starts on soft or heavy. His Doomben Open mile win in July came with today's jockey, who is unbeaten on him, and his Members Cup third last start was full of merit after being held up. He draws to sit handy on the fence, which is where you want to be on a heavy track at a moderate tempo.
The problem is he has never seen a heavy track, and today's Heavy 9 is as testing as it gets. His soft-track record is fair rather than outstanding.
Liberty Park is the improver in the race. He has won both starts this preparation, and his Doomben mile win was good enough to be competitive in Open company. He handles wet ground, with five wins on soft or heavy from 11 tries, and carries only 52kg, which counts on a Heavy 9.
