Has the strongest evidence in a field full of unraced runners. She ran a brave second at her debut in a black-type juvenile, sitting handy the whole way, and the extra 300m looks within her scope. Barrier three is helpful over the short Ellerslie trip, she carries only 55kg, and the combination with her jockey has produced winners. Not a certainty, but the best form on offer.

Speight's 2yo
He ran on well to finish third on debut after being bumped in the closing stages, and gets a good draw in barrier two. The extra distance should suit and he has a run under his belt.
A first starter, but the signs are good. The stable has a strong record with early juveniles, and the in-form rider has been booked for a debut at a track where he does well.

Auckland Co-Op Taxis Hcp
The most reliable form in the race. He won over this exact trip at Ellerslie and has been placed in his two runs since against similar company. He will be handy in a slow-run race and the track suits that.
Has the track record and the run of the race. If he gets an easy lead he will be hard to run down in a slow-run race.
His recent runs have been better than the results suggest, and he drops in class here.
Her late sprint in a wet-track race was stronger than anything else in the field, and she is much better off against Open company than Group 1. A slow tempo is against her, but the long Ellerslie straight leaves her room to finish.

Trackside.co.nz Mdn
Easily the best-credentialed runner, dropping from Listed and stakes races to a Maiden. She has been in the placings several times and should be handy from barrier 4.
He has plenty of early speed and gets a top jockey, but barrier 11 could cost ground. He has been beaten while on the speed before and has yet to win.
Has been placed in both starts, and her last run over 1400m was only narrowly beaten after meeting interference late.
Debutants cannot be marked down for having no form, and this one comes from a well-performed stable with a jockey who has won with their runners before. Not a confident pick, but she is the best value of the debutants.

Entain/NZB Insurance Pearl Series (Bm65)
The class rise is the question, but her numbers suggest she can handle it.
Cosmic Dream is the most reliable runner in the race, having finished third five times at this grade, and the inside draw gives her an easy trip. She is likely to be involved again, but she often gets beaten late and the first-up record is moderate. A strong place chance rather than the most likely winner.
She has been running to a good standard at a higher grade and drops in class here.
Rumours has been running to a good standard for the grade, with an impressive maiden win on Good ground and a finishing run at Ellerslie last time over this trip.

The standout on form. She has won three of four over 1200m, including a Group 3, and now drops into Open grade off a light weight from barrier 1. The inside draw and early speed suit a moderate tempo at Ellerslie.
December has the speed credentials to run well against this field. He has been competing in Group and Listed company and drops back to Open.
Her best runs have been strong finishing efforts in Open company.
Vegas Queen is a quality mare when she is at her best, as shown by her fast winning run at Te Rapa. Second up and in good order, she will be handy in a moderately-run race.

Elsdon Park Hcp
She won an Open handicap here last month, ran a good Listed third last start and drops in class at a light weight. Her jockey and stable combination is strong. Her back-of-field style in a slow tempo is the main risk, but her form and class edge make her the most likely winner.
He ran to a very high standard winning an Open handicap over this course and distance in May and is at the same grade. Second up from a break, he should be fitter.
A progressive horse who won last start carrying 60.5kg and now gets a big weight relief. His pace-handy style looks well suited to a slowly-run mile. The step up to Open class is the question, and his Ellerslie record is patchy, but his upward trend and lighter weight make him a genuine place and win chance.
His recent form is poor but that came against Group 1 opposition, and he is dropping to Open company with a clear run in front on a track that is drying out. If the tempo is as slow as expected he can get an easy lead and be hard to peg back.

Show By Skycity (Bm75)
Day One is the best form-based chance. He won his last start at Ellerslie in Bm65 company, is second up with a winning second-up record, and has the Opie Bosson partnership that is 2 from 2. A moderate tempo should see him handy from a middle barrier, and while there is a class rise, he has the improving profile of a young horse.
A talented four-year-old who has competed in Group company, he sits at his best level in Bm75 and is second up with an in-form jockey. The barrier is good and he likes to be midfield and finish strongly. The main doubt is that all his wins are on soft, and the stable has been quiet.
War Queen has strong track and distance claims, having run a close second at Ellerslie over 1400m in a Bm75 only months ago. She drops back from Open class and is second up with a handy weight.
His best form is clearly above this level, with a big third in Open company and trainer in strong form. A drop to Bm75 and a lighter field class suit, and he can find a spot midfield from a middle draw.

Thank You Craig Baker (Bm65)
Excite is the most proven galloper in the field. He has been placed in Group company and won a Listed race on Good ground. His last start was messy, with a poor beginning, and top weight with the 1600m trip are small concerns.
She is second up with a hot jockey and trainer combination and carries a light weight. She likes to settle well back, and on Good ground at Ellerslie, backmarkers do get home in a sustained run. Her last start was a promising fourth at Ellerslie, when she made up plenty of ground from the back. Her risk is a modest tempo and traffic trouble. She is a solid place chance.
His narrow second over 2000m was a strong run, and he has a powerful finish that the long Ellerslie straight should suit. Opie Bosson is excellent at this track. He has won only once in 16 starts and has been mostly on wet ground, but the form lines say he is competitive here. He looks a fair each-way chance.
He steps into a tougher grade with an untested jockey, so there is risk. His strong finish and the inside draw give him a chance of saving ground.
