Veyepee beat a Bm84 field on Soft 5 at Mornington last start, a tougher assignment than this, and has won both starts on rain-affected ground. He gets back and relies on a strong finish, which is the main risk at Caulfield from a wide gate with 61.5kg, but a moderate tempo should let Shinn find cover and a midfield spot.

Beverly (Bm80)
Just Desserts has done nothing wrong in three wins and the clock says he has been winning with something in hand, even under big weights. He gets a leader's run from barrier 4 with only 57.5kg on a track that favours on-pace horses in staying races. The class leap from Bm62 is the obvious concern and early pressure from Bring Forth could test him, but the pace should be moderate and he has shown he can sustain a strong gallop. Best of the on-pace brigade and a genuine winning chance.
Emperor Tzu is the most reliable horse in the race with three wins in a row, all from a forward position. His Sandown win on Soft 7 was a sharp performance and he handled Caulfield last time out. He rises in grade with more weight and must cross from barrier 10, so he has a little less upside than the top two. Still, he is fit, proven on wet ground and ridden by a jockey who knows him.
Classic Gem is the best-credentialed horse in the race on class, having run fourth in the Australian Oaks before a confident first-up win at Bendigo. She carries only 59kg and the longer trip suits. If Egan can keep her in touch from barrier 6 in a moderately run race, she has the engine to run over the top of them.

Thoroughbred Club Of Australia Plate
She should settle in the first half of the field despite the wide gate, which suits the Caulfield pattern. Only an inside-draw bias or a tempo collapse undoes her.
A lightly raced filly who has done nothing wrong on wet tracks, with a soft-track maiden win at Seymour that was a cut above the standard for that grade. The stable is in strong form and the booking of Mark Zahra after a jump-out underlines intent. The question is whether a two-start maiden winner can give the leaders a start on a track that rewards on-pace runners.
Consistent rather than brilliant, but she has the right profile for Caulfield. She handles soft and heavy ground, draws the inside and will be in the first half of the field under an in-form rider. Her Heavy 8 second at Sandown and her Caulfield fourth last start were both competitive efforts, though she keeps finding one or two better.
Lucky Brook has the most important positional edge in the race: she is the quickest away, draws the inside, and Caulfield rewards fillies who settle in the first three. Her win here on a Soft 7 was genuinely strong and her Flemington Listed run from a wide gate lost little on the stopwatch. Second start at this trip but the map is perfect.
Her Adelaide form, including a soft-track stakes win and a win over this distance, is a class above most rivals. Her two Melbourne runs since have been underwhelming, but the last had clear excuses and the one before was better than it reads.

Evergreen Turf Vase
Savitri's Mornington win with 62kg on soft ground was the strongest recent performance in this field, and her Caulfield win in the autumn was of similar quality. The class rise is real, but she has already measured up in an Oaks, is lightly raced with upside, and drops 6kg from her last two starts. From barrier 1 she should land third or fourth on the rail behind a moderate tempo, exactly where Caulfield winners come from. She is the most likely winner.
But the Golden Pendant run was only fair when she led and was collared, she is winless at second up, and she must share the speed with Astral Flame on a track where leaders have been winning at a low rate.
Perfect Ten is the progressive wet-tracker of the race.
Astral Flame is the forgotten horse. In the autumn she ran second in a Group 2 and fourth in the Anniversary Vase over this course and distance, the latter on soft ground in a performance that rates with the best recent efforts in this field. She has not raced since, so she relies on two jump-outs and a trial for fitness, and barrier 11 complicates her preferred front-running style. An each-way saver.

Sportsbet Herbert Power Stakes
Shockletz enters off a dominant Archer Stakes win over 2500m where she ran to a standard no other runner here has matched in recent weeks. Her Caulfield fourth on a Soft 7 before that was also high quality, and she has a genuine wet-track pedigree with three soft wins. The main risk is positional: she settles midfield to back on a track that rewards forward runners, but with three genuine leaders the race should be truly run.
The clock says he belongs here. The concerns are class and position. He has never contested black-type, has not been to Caulfield, and maps to settle near last on a track where closers at this trip rarely win.
Zakouma's Andrew Ramsden win over 2800m at Flemington showed he is a genuine stayer at Listed level, and both Caulfield runs this campaign were better than the results suggest after being crowded in the Naturalism and coming from last in the Heatherlie. He handles rain-affected ground and the step to 2400m in a strongly run race is exactly what he wants.
She is two from two at 2400m, won a Group 3 on soft ground at Rosehill, and her Caulfield runs this campaign have been sound, including a Naturalism fourth beaten under a length and a half after leading. If she can cross and settle in the first four from barrier 14 she will be very hard to run down. Value each-way.

HKJC World Pool Northwood Plume Stakes
Bridal Waltz led throughout and was only collared by Point Barrow in the How Now at this track and trip, and that run and her previous second on Soft 6 at Caulfield were both close to a winning standard. She drops to the minimum weight, draws to lead or sit outside the leader from barrier 4, and gets the rain-affected surface her rider asked for.
Point Barrow is arguably the best horse in the race and produced the strongest performance of any runner here when swooping to win the How Now at this track and trip. The problem is the setup: barrier 13, a slow-beginning habit, a moderate tempo and a track that punishes backmarkers.
Naifah is the best of the on-pace alternatives. Both her wins came on soft ground over this trip, leading throughout at Morphettville and Ipswich, and she holds enough early speed to find a forward spot from the wide gate.
Eagle Express is overpriced relative to her chances. Her racing pattern, settling in the first half, suits Caulfield far better than the other outsiders who need to come from the back.

Henley Homes Schillaci Stakes
He has won six in a row at Group level, leads at will, handles soft going and draws the fence at a track where front-runners have dominated soft-ground sprints lately.
Streisand is a Group 1 quality filly getting a huge weight pull from the older horses. Her Cap D'Antibes sixth was much better than the result suggests under a big weight, and she drops to 51kg here. She has won both starts at Caulfield, handled a Soft 5 when second in the Golden Slipper and will race handy, which is where the winners come from at this track.
Rey Magnerio is the obvious danger on class, having chased Jigsaw home in the Quokka and owning a strong Caulfield 1100m record. He is drawn well and William Pike is riding in brilliant form. The concern is his racing pattern, since he settles near the rear and this track has been unforgiving to backmarkers on soft going, and he is still looking for a first soft-track win.
He won a Group 3 over 1100m and then ran third in a Group 1 on soft ground last preparation, beaten under a length, with Rey Magnerio and Flying For Fun behind him that day. He draws to settle midfield just off the speed, which this track rewards, and Ben Melham sticks with him.

Sportsbet Might And Power
The form assessment lands on Sheza Alibi as the most likely winner. She has won eight of twelve, holds three Group 1 trophies, and handles soft ground with a Doncaster win on heavy-ish going. A lone leader and slow tempo should let her sit third and sprint, which is exactly how she won the Guineas.
Soft ground does not bother him and his jockey knows him well.
Treasurethe Moment is the one runner who can dictate the race. With no other genuine leader she should get to the front cheaply and control the tempo, and her Caulfield and soft-track records are among the best in the field.
Kingswood is the overlay. The Underwood effort was better than the margin after he was caught wide early. He should sit second behind a lone leader and get every chance in a race that is likely to favour those on the speed.

Sportsbet Caulfield Guineas
Warwoven is the form horse. His Golden Rose win was the strongest run in this race by a clear margin and his Run To The Rose win before it confirmed he is improving each start. He races on the speed from a good draw, which is the winning pattern at Caulfield, and he has already won on soft ground. The mile is the only question, but he was strong through the line at 1400m.
Blind Raise is the main local danger. His Prelude win here was a Group 1 standard performance and he has already proven himself on soft ground at Sandown. He draws to lead or sit outside the lead from barrier 2 and that is the right map at Caulfield. The question is whether he can withstand Warwoven over an extra 200m.
Tron Bolt is the proven Group 1 miler in the field, having won the J.J. Atkins on a bog track. His Golden Rose run was better than the margin suggests from a wide gate. The negatives are the wide draw and his racing style, as get-back horses struggle to win at Caulfield.
Tornado Valley is the overlay. His Prelude second here was a genuine Group 1 standard run and he was the only horse to make Blind Raise work. He is a consistent placegetter who handles soft ground, races on the speed and draws well enough to hold a forward spot.

Hyland Race Colours Toorak Hcp
The most complete profile in the race. She has run second in a Group 1 over this trip and her last-start fourth in the Sir Rupert Clarke was a winning-standard effort from the ideal on-pace position. With three genuine leaders promising a strong tempo, she should get the perfect trail in fourth or fifth before pouncing. The soft ground is the query, but she has placed on it before and the track is only a Soft 5.
On raw ability shown this preparation Warnie is arguably the horse to beat: his Chautauqua win on soft ground was the strongest performance in this field, and he closed well again at Caulfield last time without luck of position. The concern is his racing pattern, as he settles midfield to back and Caulfield has been punishing that style. The expected hot tempo offsets much of that.
He earns a place in the top three on form. He is not the top selection because the speed map is against him, with Evaporate and Hellsing also wanting the front, and he over-raced in front last time.
An improving stallion who has strung together seven wins from nineteen starts and arrives off a Listed win at Flemington that compares favourably with the lead-up form of the main contenders. He gets in with a very light weight, draws well, loves a mile and has won on heavy ground.

Nationwide Weekend Hussler Stakes
Harry's Yacht is the form horse of the race.
The question is his racing pattern: he gets a long way back and Caulfield punishes backmarkers. The expected fast tempo from three leaders mitigates that concern, and his strike rate for placings on soft ground is excellent.
Regal Zeus is the obvious on-pace hope after leading all the way to win the Testa Rossa here, and his Caulfield record is outstanding. The concern is a fast-pressured race with two other leaders drawn wide who will force him to work, and his wet-track efforts before last start were plain.
He finished second in the Testa Rossa here three weeks ago, beaten only a length and a half by Regal Zeus, and meets that horse three kilograms better off.
