The wet-track form is unproven, as a flat Soft 7 run earlier is a question mark, but he is stepping up to this level in good shape. A genuine place chance and a win threat if he gets a handy trip.

Taylor Toyota Mdn Plate
Japanese Moka is the best form horse in the race. The gelding led and finished a good second over this course and distance on Soft 6 last start, and ran to a winning standard. Leaders are favoured on this track and the horse has the early speed to take up a forward spot despite the wide gate. Barrier 17 is the only real negative, but the form edge and wet-track suitability make this the pick.
Nicento is the best of the long shots. The filly has trialled consistently on wet tracks, placing in two of her last three, and is trained by a stable that wins plenty at Hamilton with a jockey in sparkling form.

Lynton McLeod Memorial Mdn Plate
Six seconds from ten starts shows plenty of ability, and the way the race should unfold suits her. She should sit just behind the three leaders and can pick them up in the straight. Winning is the sticking point, but this is the best form in a modest maiden.
Big Vee has stepped up since being gelded, with a second on heavy ground and a third last start. He has pace, but barrier 15 is a big negative at Hamilton, where the inside draws dominate. He will likely work back or go wide, and the very fast pace may help him late.
Symphatum has run well in each of four jump-outs and comes from a stable that wins here regularly. Jack Hill rides him, and that pair wins at a solid rate. He is the pick of the unraced runners.
The fast pace is a danger for a front-runner, but he can still run into a place if things go his way.

Walkers Earthworks Mdn Plate
He has been placed in both starts, ran to a winning standard at Cranbourne and has a hot stable behind him. The wide gate and untested soft footing are the concerns, but a fast tempo should suit his midfield style.
A debutant who won her latest trial and is prepared by a stable and jockey who do well together at Hamilton.
A debutant filly from a stable going well, with respectable trial efforts and a handy light weight. Lack of race form is not penalised and the stable's Hamilton record is a plus.
A consistent maiden who has placed three times, including at Hamilton on soft ground, and has the speed to park handy where Hamilton favours on-pace runners. She was far better at Goulburn on soft than her last run suggests.

Halo Racing 'Colin McKenna Memorial' Hcp (56)
She is the most natural leader in a field where on-speed runners dominate at Hamilton, ran well here on soft ground last start and drops to an easier grade.
A genuine on-pace runner drawn to get a perfect run just behind or alongside the leader. His wet-track form is solid and he has been running competitively against similar company.
A mare who has been running to a good standard at this grade and has proven she handles soft ground. She should get a handy position behind the speed from a good gate. The lack of recent racing and the stable's poor Hamilton record temper enthusiasm, but she has the form profile to run into a placing at least.
He is the quickest beginner, loves the wet, and ran a top race over this distance on a heavy track not long ago.

Kinvonvie (Bm70)
On form this is the most likely winner. It was the best performer in the field when winning at Ballarat on soft ground, and it settles midfield from a good barrier. A fast tempo with three leaders should bring the pace back to it.
A proven mile performer on wet tracks, dropping in class after a solid third. It tracks the speed from a reasonable draw and should be suited by a genuine tempo. The stable's poor form and 61kg are the main concerns. It is a sound each-way chance with real winning claims.
But Hamilton is hard on backmarkers, and it will probably settle near the tail.
Mapped to sit just behind the leaders from a good draw, in a track pattern where on-pace runners hold up well. It has strong wet-track form and a class drop. Recent runs were flat, but it was racing in a faster class.

The Cally Hamilton (Bm70)
Ballynacally gets the ideal setup: a low draw, natural speed and a proven soft-track record. She sits just behind the leader on a moderate tempo and should be hard to peg back on the Hamilton surface.
Magnabelle Royale has been consistent and her last run was a winning-standard effort despite being beaten for early speed. She should be better for the run and has a tidy record on soft. The wide draw is the main worry at Hamilton, where inside runners dominate.
Pure Passion has been running solid races at Bm66 level and gets an ideal draw and light weight on a soft surface that favours handy runners.

Bet365 Hamilton Cup
Barrier 15 and a slow tempo are real hurdles. He should find cover and be strong late.
A genuine wet-track mare who has won a Warrnambool Cup and a Casterton Bm78 on heavy ground. She should settle handy from a good draw in a slow-run race, which is the best way to ride Hamilton. The class rise and top-weight load are concerns.
A Hamilton specialist trainer and a jockey in top form give this gelding a solid chance. He is light in the weights and should be handy to midfield. Soft ground is a concern given his record, and the class rise is big. He has only a modest edge over the rest of the field, but the connections are hard to ignore.
He is the best-placed speed runner, drawn 2, with a light weight, in a race where leaders and on-pace horses have the edge on the Soft track. Class and Soft-track form are the question marks, but his position and recent consistency make him the most likely winner on form.
A veteran soft-track specialist who has won eight times on the surface. Barrier 16 makes his job harder, and he is a risk at the class. At 20 dollars he is the best overlay in the race for a place.

Ace Radio Hcp (56)
Has the best blend of speed and proven stamina in a moderate-pace race. Last start second at Echuca was a strong effort, he has won at 2200m and on soft ground, and can find the front-half of the field despite the wide gate.
A tough 11-year-old with a lot of wet-track form and a recent soft-track win at similar grade. He has run competitively in all recent starts and carries a comfortable weight.
The most reliable placegetter of the field with an excellent last start at 2200m, only half a length from winning. Midfield running should suit a moderate tempo and jockey Nugent has a good record at Hamilton.
A past Hamilton winner on wet ground who gets a featherweight and maps to sit in a handy position.
