Best form credentials in the race. He will be handy in a slow-run 2200m, has been good at Dubbo over the trip, and was second at this class last start. He gets weight relief compared with recent Dubbo runs.

Burgun & Williams Optometrists (Bm66)
The only genuine leader, and in a slow-run 2200m that is a significant advantage. He won here over this trip at a lower grade, and the light weight is a plus. Last start he weakened late from a handy spot at Bathurst, which is the concern, but an easier lead on Good ground should help.
However, a slow-run 2200m rarely favours backmarkers, and he has more placings than wins.
Looks overpriced. She will be handy in a slow tempo, goes well on Good ground and has won over this trip. Her Dubbo third two starts ago, finishing from last, was a solid effort at a lower class. A genuine each-way value play.

Callaway Roofing & Construction Mdn Hcp
The most exposed and reliable form in a thin maiden. She was beaten under two lengths at Grafton two runs back after being shuffled back, then closed off for second at Muswellbrook, so she arrives fit and in form. She settles midfield and there is genuine speed predicted in front of her, which suits. The query is the good surface, as all her placings have come on rain-affected tracks.
He won a recent 900m trial, gets one of the better country riders and lands in a gate that outperforms at Dubbo over sprints. His sole race start was a poor 1300m effort on soft ground where he weakened badly, so the case rests on the trial, the stable's intent and sprinting pedigree rather than exposed race form.
Resumes from a break with a narrow trial second and lands in a race with no confirmed leader, so his natural speed should put him in the first two. His local stable wins regularly here and his jockey has a good record for them. Last prep he was honest without threatening, but he is lightly raced, gets in with little weight and could easily improve sharply.
A 15-start maiden, but she keeps running to a winning standard. She led and was only worn down late over 900m last week and has been close up at 1000m and 1100m. She has the most early speed in the field, though gate 14 means she must work across.

Texan Star ran the best race of this prep when charging home for second at Dubbo over 1300m, and he now drops from a higher grade into maiden company. The outside draw suits Dubbo's pattern and he has a 1400m placing. Texan Star is the win play.
He maps to sit handy from barrier two and the stable/jockey combination has a good strike rate here.
Mega Missile produced the strongest last-start run in this field when second over 1300m at Narromine, and the step to 1400m looks suitable. Jacob Stiff is riding well at Dubbo and the horse has upside after just one start.
Castro is a consistent placegetter with a strong record at Dubbo and over 1400m, including three placings from five track starts. He was closing well last start over 1100m and should be fitter second-up.

Swift Gun comes off a narrow second at Orange where he ran to a winning standard. He has been placed at the mile in stronger grade and is improving with racing. The fast tempo is a concern for on-pace runners, but he is versatile enough to sit off the speed. His win strike rate is the knock, but he is the most reliable form horse in the race.
Grey Belief is a maiden but has been knocking on the door at this level, placing at 1600m in Class 1 company at her past two starts. She gets in light and maps to settle midfield, which should be ideal if the fast tempo unfolds as predicted.
However, he is lightly raced, trained by a local master, and his backmarker style could be suited by the predicted fast tempo.
Aphelion is a consistent maiden who has been around the mark in Class 1 races at this distance, including a close third at Narromine. He lacks a winning edge but is a solid each-way prospect.

Tracserv Hcp (C1)
He brings the best recent form into this. Two starts back here he was posted wide throughout and still beaten only three lengths; last time at Bathurst he chased a wide path and stuck on for third in a race with more depth. He maps to settle handy, is drawn in the band that does best over this trip here, and his jockey is riding in great form. Four tries at Dubbo without a win is the query.
Her last-start second over this trip at Bathurst was one of the strongest runs in the field — she sat outside the leader and fought on. She maps to settle in the first few again and has a close second over this course and distance to her name. The wide gate is the obvious concern, and she has a habit of racing fiercely, including a buck-jumping display at this meeting last preparation. Strong stable-jockey combination.
Resumed here over 1000m with a closing fifth, under two lengths from the winner after doing plenty wrong early. He should be sharper second-up and his maiden win at Wellington was a smart performance. He has been placed in one of two starts at this track and has drawn nicely. The unknowns are the step to 1200m for the first time and a jockey still looking for a winner this season.
Honest mare who has finished second at her last two, including a half-length defeat here over 1000m when she led and was run down late. She is the one runner with genuine early speed in a race without much pressure, so she could dictate, and she carries a light weight from a good gate. The query is the extra 200m — she has never raced beyond 1100m — and she has won only once in 14.

North West Equestrian Expo Showcase Sprint
The most reliable horse in the race. Four placings from her last five, including two narrow seconds at this track, and every one of those runs has had merit. She drops back and attacks the line and with several hard-headed speedsters up front the race should be run to suit her. Drawn inside is no issue given she concedes the early lead anyway.
Ticking over nicely and her last-start second at this track was full of merit, running through the line better than anything else here. She gets in light after the claim and a hot speed battle up front should let her settle back and swoop. The query is the rider, who has not had a winner recently, and her record over the short trip at Dubbo is thin. Include on an each-way basis.
Rounding into form at the right time and his last-start second at this grade reads well. He can sit handier than most of the closers and avoid the worst of the speed battle, which is a genuine plus if the leaders overdo it. The knock is his poor record here and a flat run two starts ago.
He won a recent trial nicely, is a winner over this trip at Dubbo and will be doing his best work when the speedsters are stopping. There is enough early pressure in the race to set it up for a horse like him.

Inland Petroleum (Bm66)
She won well at Dubbo over this trip two runs back, then had excuses when checked at a vital stage last start. Second-up with a strong stable and jockey partnership, she should be finishing hard in a fast-run race.
He produced the strongest last-start performance in the field when charging home for second at Coonamble. The wide draw is an advantage at Dubbo over 1000m, and his rider knows him well. If he settles just off the speed instead of leading, he can be the one finishing strongest. The main risk is his tendency to overrace.
He is racing in great heart, winning at Narromine last start and dropping to a featherweight here. From barrier one he should hold a handy position without doing too much work. The concern is that he has not won at Dubbo in five attempts and is rising in class, but his recent form and weight make him a serious contender.
She is a Dubbo 1000m specialist with two wins and a placing from three tries at the track and trip. Last start she lost ground at the start at Bathurst and still finished close enough.

Imperial Hotel Coonabarabran Cup
Resumed from a 17-week break with an excellent Highway win at Rosehill over 1500m, coming from ninth at the 400m and hitting the line strongly. He improves at his second run back, a stage at which he has already won, and he has previously won at Scone over this trip. Drawn in three he can settle just off the one genuine leader and be produced late. The step from Highway grade to an Open is the only real query, but his form is the strongest in the race.
He charged home from midfield to be beaten less than a length over this trip at Coonamble last start, covering ground and still running through the line. He is rarely far away, with four wins and eight placings from 19 starts and placings at both Dubbo runs, and he drops slightly in grade. The obvious knock is the top weight of 60.5kg, a big jump on what he carried last time, but he maps for a nice trail behind the pace and the rider knows him well.
A proven Dubbo performer with three wins and two seconds from eight starts here, she resumed with a tough win at Coonamble over 1200m, tracking the leaders along the rail and getting there near the 140m. She strips fitter second up, a stage at which she has won twice from four, and handles good ground. The queries are the step out to the mile, a trip she has been placed at twice without winning, and a new rider who has had a quiet run of late.
He has won over 1600m at Dubbo and has never finished worse than second at the track in two visits.

Hello Sport Country Boosted (Bm58)
She ran to a winning standard when a narrow second over 1300m at Orange last start, has a strong record with today's jockey and gets a genuine tempo to run into.
Won well at Forbes before running a gallant second and shapes as the handiest of the genuine chances. The wider barrier is an asset in sprints here and the fast tempo should keep him in a good spot. The main doubts are the extra distance and the weight, but he is the best of the on-speed types.
His last start at Bathurst was a very good run in the same grade over the same trip, finishing fast after being checked. A genuine pace should set the race up for a runner coming from behind.
A consistent young gelding who has won and placed regularly, with a class drop and an easy draw. A reasonable place option.
