His Ascot Open form and Listed 4th read stronger than anything else here. He settles handy from barrier 6, which suits the slow projected tempo and the on-pace lean at Belmont. Second-up he ran a close 2nd at 1200m.

MC Polytrack Plate
The class threat but the setup works against him. Swift Ruler won his last two at Belmont on soft ground, both from 9th, and Pike is unbeaten on him. However he is first up without a win fresh, faces a projected slow tempo with a lone leader, and Belmont is currently rewarding on-pace runners with backmarkers winning only around 4 to 8 percent. Top weight and a lugging bit add to the query. Best used for the place.
Yamanex placed twice at Open level last preparation before being thrown into Group 3 and Group 2 company, where she was outclassed. Back to Open grade, first up after a Belmont trial win, with 54kg and barrier 3, she profiles as the best of the rest. Her only soft-track run was a write-off and she is still a maiden, so confidence is capped.
Spinarella represents the overlay. She beat an Open field at Belmont on Soft 7 last start from a handy position, and today draws barrier 1 to sit right behind or alongside the lone leader in a slow tempo on a track currently rewarding on-pace runners. Three placings from four starts show consistency.

WA Racehorse Owners' Association (Bm66+)
Only 8 runners limits how far he can be off the speed, and the 54kg draw-3 combination is ideal. The on-pace bias and slow tempo are genuine risks, so confidence is moderate, but he is the most likely winner on ability and trajectory.
Bird's The Word maps perfectly for the speed-favouring Belmont pattern and has Pike aboard, and his two recent thirds here on soft ground were sound. However, he wins only one in twenty on soft tracks, places far more than he wins at Belmont, and returns from a 42-day gap with a distance rise.
She has led and placed in three consecutive runs and the current Belmont pattern rewards forward runners. She is a non-winner in her last 10 starts and her Albany wet-track form was poor, which caps her as a place chance.
Belle Journee is the value runner. Five weeks ago she won a Belmont 1600m race on Soft 5 sitting handy with Pike, and today she drops 4kg from that win, draws barrier 4 and races on the same going.

Celebrating 40 Year Record Holder Brava Mento (Bm72+)
Lightly raced 5yo who has won 5 of 13 starts, including 3 of his last 4, all at 1400m. Wins fresh (4:2-0-0), wins on soft (4:2-0-0) and has trialled well twice at Belmont. With 55kg and early speed to sit third, he maps ideally on a track currently favouring forward runners. Class rise is the query but the light weight and momentum offset it.
His wet form is genuine and Pike's booking is a strong intent signal, so he deserves a place in the top three. He is not the top pick because his best wins came at 1600m, his last preparation was poor, and he tends to settle off the speed on a surface currently rewarding forward runners.
Barrier 3, proven wet form and a Belmont Soft 5 win over 1200m five weeks ago make him the on-pace runner best placed to exploit the bias. His last two runs were poor, but the 1400m suits better than 1200m and he ran second at this trip on Soft 5 earlier in the year. Pressure from Exceltrain is the key risk.
An 8yo whose last preparation was poor, but almost all of it was on Good tracks at Listed and BM84 level. Today he drops to BM72+, gets a Soft 5 surface where he has won 3 of 7 starts, and returns fresh with a decent first-up record and a trial win. He can settle handy on a track favouring forward runners. Small each-way play.

Steps 4 Epilepsy WA (Rs1mw)
Cosmic Waltz was narrowly beaten at this level over the Belmont 1400m a fortnight ago and has placed in 10 of 12 career starts, including three placings from four soft-track runs. He maps to sit handy from barrier 7, exactly the profile the current Belmont bias rewards. The bridesmaid record and a rider with a weak Belmont strike rate temper confidence, but on consistency, map and suitability he is the most likely winner.
Streak Of God is the main danger on trajectory and connections. Pike stays aboard for a stable that wins at 21% with him. The queries are the drop to 1400m, where he has not yet won, and barrier 9 which likely leaves him midfield on a track currently favouring forward runners.
Main Act arrives off a confident on-pace win at Belmont over 1300m and keeps the winning rider. The obstacles are real: he steps up 2.5kg to top weight, draws barrier 10 in the poorest Belmont zone and has never won over 1400m.
Her 1400m record of 24 starts for five wins and four seconds marks her as a genuine distance specialist, and barrier 3 with a 16% Belmont rider is an upgrade. The main risk is that she settles midfield or worse on a track favouring forward runners, but she has already overcome that pattern twice here this year. Each-way value.

TABtouch - Westspeed Platinum Series Heat 3 (Rs0ly)
Settles fourth or fifth from a middle draw, has already run second in this grade at the track and trip on rain-affected ground, and Pike's booking over the stable rider is meaningful intent.
He is second rather than first because the contextual negatives stack up: top weight, the widest gate, and a get-back run style on a track currently punishing backmarkers.
The lightly raced improver in the race. His Ascot second in this grade was a dead-heat for the win and he has form fresh, with a recent trial to sharpen him.
The clear risk is his get-back style on a track favouring on-pace runners, plus 60kg.

Vale Drew Brierty (Rs1mw)
Sister Mary has the most reliable and progressive form profile in the race. She won over this trip at Belmont last start, has already placed in this grade, and has a soft-track win at 2200m.
However, the form spike came with 54.5kg and she now lugs 60kg from barrier 9 as a backmarker in a race likely run at a slow tempo on a speed-favouring track. Pike is a major asset but the combined weight and map negatives mean she is not the top pick and is better used for place coverage.
Phat Chaps gets the run of the race from barrier 1, sitting just off the two leaders in what should be a slow tempo, and the recent track pattern strongly favours that position. He is consistent and handles soft ground.
Eternal Romance is the runner best positioned to exploit the current on-pace bias at Belmont. She will lead or sit outside the leader in a slow-tempo staying race and sheds 4.5kg from her last-start 4th behind Sister Mary. She has won on soft, won at Belmont over 2100m in Open company, and has the class edge over the other leader.

Nicopolis Stakes
Snowdome is the form and map standout. He has run second in three straight Belmont Listed races carrying 59kg, including on Soft 5 and Heavy 9, and now meets an Open field with 57.5kg. He races on the speed from a barrier inside the favoured 1-8 zone on a track currently rewarding forward runners.
Chris Parnham retains the ride and she carries the minimum weight. The two concerns are real: an untested 1200m and a wide draw, though her early speed should let her push across into an on-pace position.
Rissoles is the most talented runner but the wrong horse for this setup. However she has never won on soft from five attempts, will settle near last, and the current Belmont pattern is punishing backmarkers.
He maps on-pace, which the track is favouring.

Bisley Workwear (Bm66+)
On-pace from barrier 6 with a strong Nottle/Taylor pairing, he maps ideally for a track currently favouring forward runners.
Pike is a major positive.
He has never been beaten at Belmont and improves second up, with two wins from three attempts. The concerns are real: 60kg on a Soft 5 with no soft-track form and a poor heavy-track run. Two placings in soft-track trials this preparation suggest he handles it adequately.
Flash Dancer has won 4 of 11 starts and two of four attempts at Belmont over 1200m. He returned to form with a Heavy 9 win at Northam under 60kg and drops to 56.5kg here with Chris Parnham, who has won three times on him. The wide draw and a winless soft-track record cap confidence, but he has the early speed to find a forward position.
