The Brennan Family Mdn Plate
Trickett's Jewel is the clear second string.
Atlan is included on map and gear-change grounds rather than form. His debut was dreadful, but he began awkwardly, was under-prepared over 1100m and now gets blinkers, a tongue tie, an inside gate and a lone-leader map over a sprint trip where leaders dominate.
Her latest run can be forgiven outright - she choked down while racing wide - and the tongue tie is the obvious remedy.

Milne Bros (Bm60)
Lunar Eight is the form horse. Today is a clear class drop, she draws inside-to-mid and maps to sit just off the lone leader, the position the Thangool data strongly rewards. The 62.5kg is the obvious risk, but she has already won with 61kg and a leading local rider retains the mount.
The 7kg weight drop and the trainer/jockey partnership's 2-from-3 record are the positives. If the blinkers help him use his natural gate speed he can sit in the front pack and be a threat; if he settles midfield he will struggle.
Subsidise is the map horse. She is the only runner projected to lead at a track where the front-runner has won a third of recent races and nothing from further back than third has won a sprint. She has already won a Thangool 800m race, draws barrier 2 with 55kg and picks up an in-form rider. Her last start was a disaster, but excuses were plentiful (fractious, awkward start, wide) and gear changes address the barrier issues.

Gordon Krafft Memorial Plate (C1)
Stromboli Delight brings the strongest class form to a weak Class 1. She maps to settle on the speed from barrier 2, ideal for Thangool's front-running sprint bias, and drops back in trip to a distance where she has two seconds from three starts. Fitness is sound after a 7-day backup.
His case rests almost entirely on the speed map - barrier 1 and a lone lead at a track that rewards leaders.
He races on-pace and should settle around 4th from barrier 7. Concerns are the widest draw, an 11% place rate and a low-strike jockey, so he is a place prospect rather than a win play.

The Howard Family Newmarket (Bm70)
The best form-plus-map fit. Owns a 3-from-4 record at 1200m and is unbeaten at Thangool over the trip (2:1-1-0 at the track). Second-up after a solid trial and dropping from Open company. Cold jockey form is the main query, but the tactical profile is ideal for this sprint.
Handles this trip well and has held her own in a Doomben BM70. The obvious knock is barrier 11 at a track where wide sprinters are heavily disadvantaged; she may have to work early. On merit she is a genuine top-three chance, not a clear winner.
Races on-pace which suits Thangool and he retains a hot local jockey. The obvious negatives are a 0-for-5 record at 1200m and top weight of 62kg, but the class and sharpness (7 days between runs) give him a real each-way claim.
Class drop helps.

Eric & Vall Nobbs Thangool Cup (C3)
The problem is the map - he gets back at a track where deep closers rarely win, and his rider is out of form. A moderate tempo with weak leaders makes an all-the-way finish hard to project. Best played for the place where his 54% place rate and inside draw give a solid edge.
General Wolffe is the safest place proposition in the field: he ran within a length of the winner in Class 3 and Class 4 company at Rockhampton and has a strong 1400m placing record. Barrier 1 and Satherley, who knows the track well, help. He rarely wins though - 3 from 88 - and needs to be closer than usual from a midfield position.
Hou Long Gwai is the each-way overlay. Spinks is riding in career form and can find a spot from the draw with weak genuine leaders ahead.
