The most raced horse here and the safest form reference in a race full of debutants. He led and stuck on for fourth over 1300m at Pinjarra in July in a race that has stacked up well, and two starts back he rattled home from near last at Bunbury over this trip. Fitter for two runs this campaign and drawn to sit on the speed in a race lacking other natural leaders. Seven starts without a placing is the obvious worry, but nothing else has shown as much.

Bunbury RSL Diggers Mdn
Unraced but the trial form stands out — beaten a lip over 1050m at Lark Hill in the quickest of these trial heats and placed at both hit-outs. Bruce Watkins has a strong record at Bunbury and the Whiting-Watkins pairing has been productive with five wins from limited runners. Drawn a touch wide in seven but with only eight runners he can slot in.
Drops from open two-year-old company to a maiden, which is significant class relief. His fresh trial was sharp — third beaten only a head over 1050m — and gate one is ideal for a horse who likes to race handy. Winkers replace blinkers.
Trained by one of the best-performed stables at Bunbury with over twenty per cent locally, which counts for plenty in a maiden of this nature. Drew well in three and his latest trial third over 1050m was sound. Worth a small each-way investment.

Trevor Roche Memorial Mdn
The clear form pick. She drops out of restricted three-year-old company into a plain maiden, carries only 48kg after the claim and lands a lovely gate. Her last-start second over 1400m at Belmont was the best staying-on run in this field - she was caught three deep without cover and kept coming the whole way up the straight. With very little speed engaged she should settle in the first few and get first run.
He is the one proven around Bunbury over this trip - a second and a third over 1400m here, and his best run at this track was good enough to take out a maiden. He settles back and charges late, and his last-start fifth at Ascot had plenty of merit after being snagged out from a wide gate. The concern is the tempo; this looks a slowly run race and he may spot the leaders too much start.
An untapped filly who was well beaten on debut but did plenty wrong, racing green and settling a long way back before making ground nicely through the line. The risk is the race shape - another get-back run in a slowly run maiden is not ideal.
The value runner. He has the best placed record in the field - three from five - including two on soft ground, and he looks the only genuine leader in a race with no obvious speed. Last time he led over this trip on soft and knocked up badly, but he was found slow to recover afterwards and a tongue tie goes on for the first time.

Cuprum Distillery - Vodka, Passionfruit & Soda Mdn
Placed in three of four starts, all at short trips, and his two runs here over this distance were both close-up behind the winner, one of them on soft ground. He has the natural speed to lead or sit outside the leader, carries only 53kg, and the moderate expected tempo suits. The wide gate is the one real worry, but his class edge over these is plain.
He led and fought on for second last start and two runs back was beaten under a length over this trip here. He has placed twice on soft ground, maps forward and will not need luck.
An untried filly but one of the more interesting runners in an ordinary maiden. Her trial second over 930m was sound, she gets blinkers straight away, and the Pearce stable has been firing. From gate four she should lob into a handy spot behind what looks a moderate tempo and be strong late. Nothing in the exposed form demands respect, so a progressive first starter is a live chance.
A four-year-old debutante whose two trials were both encouraging, finishing within a length over 950m and 1050m. The stable does well at this track and the rider/trainer pairing has a healthy strike rate, which is a useful pointer on debut.

Hyoketsu Summer Series Mdn
Ruthless Bloom has placed in most recent starts and ran to a better standard than her rivals. Her back-marking style is a concern in a slowly run race, but she is capable of finishing off strongly.
Spiritart has run close on several occasions in maiden company, including a good second at Bunbury, and her midfield style fits a slowly run race. Visors are an interesting first-time gear change.
Sweeter makes her debut with a respectable trial placing behind her, and the stable does well at Bunbury.
Lexan'ruby ran a strong second on soft ground at Bunbury last month and gets a weight advantage today.

Swan Draught Hcp (C3)
She is the only natural leader in what looks a slow-run race, and she ran to a winning standard last start at a higher class. Soft ground and the extra distance are real doubts, as she has led and faded before.
Point Rocks has the best course-and-distance record in the race, with two wins from four starts, and gets a light weight with a claim. He should settle just behind the leader in a slow race.
Regal Service has soft-track form, with two close seconds on the wet, and a trainer who does well at Bunbury. His last two runs were disappointing, so he is not a confident pick. He races midfield in a slow-run race, which does not help.
The trainer is in good form and has added ear muffs, which may help her settle.

Redink Homes Southwest Hcp (C3)
She won here over the same trip last start from midfield-back, has a soft-ground record and is second up. The map is not ideal for a closer, but she has shown she can settle just off the pace and finish well in this grade. The class rise is a small concern. Miss Valmalenco is shorter than she should be first-up after a long break with a poor distance record, so Mighty Bell is the clearest pick.
She was second at Collie last start and gets a big weight break dropping to the bottom of the handicap. She will be handy in a moderate pace and has won on soft before. The stable is out of form, which tempers confidence.
Solid placing profile and he ran a good second here over this trip two starts ago, in a higher grade. The last start was poor, but the stewards' report gives an explanation and the gear change may help.
A risky but interesting overlay. Her best form is right at this trip and class, and she has won on soft before. She is returning after a very long break and has not won first-up, and the trial run was weak.

Real Punters Play Here TABtouch Hcp (C1)
The most likely winner on form. She has won on Bunbury's soft ground and ran on strongly over 1200m last prep. Both runs were at a winning standard. A moderate tempo and middle draw suit her.
She has a soft-ground win, runs consistently at a competitive level and gets a favourable position just off the speed.
He has Class 1 ability and course experience. But he is unproven on the soft ground, comes in first-up after more than seven months, and has a history of tiring late. A placing is more likely than a win.
A consistent, improving type who should be handy. He has been placed at this distance without winning, and top weight on soft ground makes the task harder.
A lightly raced mare who won her maiden in front-running style and is now second-up. She carries the lightest weight, has a rider claim and strong stable form. The class rise and wide barrier are real obstacles, and there is little form to judge by.
