Spirit Of Torque has the best form in the race by a clear margin. She has placed on soft ground, drops back to maiden grade with a light weight and should trail the speed in a slowly run race.

The Gollan stable is the strongest at Doomben, Angela Jones rides, and from barrier one she should lead a slowly run race, which is the ideal scenario on heavy ground. Her debut was an even effort beaten over five lengths and she has never raced on wet ground, so the improvement is assumed rather than proven.
Notes Of Autumn is the improver of the field. She gave away three lengths at the start at Gatton and still ran on strongly for fifth, a run that measured up close to a winning standard on soft ground. The booking of Ben Thompson, the leading rider at Doomben, and a stable combination that has won three of seven starts together are strong signals. The problem is the map, as a backmarker in a slowly run race on heavy ground needs luck and tempo she is unlikely to get.
Alto Luna is a genuine roughie with the one attribute most of this field lacks, a placing on heavy ground. He is the quickest beginner here and should be sitting outside the leader in a slowly run race, which is where you want to be at Doomben in the wet.

Ladbrokes Hosted Pots (Bm68)
Paciera brings the best combination of current form, wet-track winning and racing pattern for a heavy Doomben mile. She won on Soft 7 at the Gold Coast last start after an earlier Sunshine Coast win, and from barrier 3 she should sit second or third behind a lone leader in a slowly-run race.
Sorrenti is the most reliable runner in the field and has the physical profile a heavy track rewards: light weight, inside-half barrier and previous wet-track experience. His Gold Coast third under a big weight was a solid effort, and his form pattern suggests the mile will suit. The main doubts are his low win rate and a likely slow tempo that favours those in front of him. He is a strong place chance and a live winning hope if the leaders tire in the ground.
However, she carried 55kg that day and lugs 59kg here, she has drawn widest and has yet to race on a heavy surface. She remains a solid place chance.
Webinar is the horse the map favours most. He is the only genuine leader, draws barrier 1 and a slow tempo on a heavy track makes leaders hard to catch. His Warwick win on soft ground was emphatic, and connections have travelled for just this ride.

Drinkwise (Bm70)
Her Gold Coast romp over 2235m on Soft 7 was comfortably the best recent run in this field and followed a tough win at the Sunshine Coast. She maps to control a slowly run race from barrier 3 with no genuine leader to pressure her.
The most relevant wet-track form in the race. He was beaten under a length in a Bench 70 over 2200m on a Heavy 9 at Eagle Farm ten days ago, clearing out from the rest of the field. He has never won on dry ground but wins and places regularly on rain-affected tracks. From barrier 2 he should hold a midfield spot, though a slowly run race may make it hard to run down the two Gollan horses.
A consistent on-pace type dropping back from stronger company. His Eagle Farm fourth behind Bench 78 horses and his Doomben second over 2030m in autumn were both runs good enough to win this. Won last start at Ipswich leading throughout, and with the apprentice's claim he carries 56kg.
An honest stayer whose Doomben 2240m win in September and his third in a Bench 68 over 2443m last start show he is competitive at this level.

Malamagic is the form pick. Now second-up, he should settle just behind the speed in a moderately run race, and Tony Gollan has a strong Doomben record.
Vital Impact was beaten a whisker at the Gold Coast on Soft 5 over this distance and finishes races strongly. She gets a big weight advantage at 54kg and handles the wet.
Overabundant ran a sound third first-up on a very wet track and should improve with the run. A fit horse second-up, he is likely to settle midfield and can run on late.
He handles the conditions and should improve for the run. A moderate tempo is a concern for a horse that settles back, but his ability stands out in a maiden of limited form.
He is the quickest beginner here and with no other natural leader he can control the race, a real asset on a heavy track. The wide draw is the issue, as he must use energy early to cross, and his only heavy-track run was poor despite excuses.
Star Rouge is the only likely leader and gets to control a moderately run race. He was beaten little more than a length at Doomben last start despite racing wide, and second-up with gear changes he can improve.

Intro Recruitment Cup Mdn
Holy Terror produced the best run in this field last start, going down by a nose at Eagle Farm on a Soft 7 after racing handy, and he has previously placed on a bog track against stronger two-year-olds. He drops sharply in class, has the gate speed to roll forward from the wide draw, and gets a top rider.
He has never seen wet ground and his connections are in modest form. He maps nicely to sit in the first three, which matters on a heavy track, and he can clearly improve second-up, so he belongs in the top three.
Cavalluna's first run at Doomben over this trip was better than the eighth placing reads: he was slow out, settled last and ran home strongly to be beaten under two lengths. The 1400m trip did not suit when he pulled hard, so the return to 1200m is a plus. Still, he has shown a level of ability that most of the rest of the field have not, so he is the third pick for a place.
Too Darn Right met Holy Terror on debut at Eagle Farm on a Soft 7 and, after a slow start and a bump, kept working to the line to be beaten under four lengths. The extra 200m, barrier 4 and a jockey who has a 26% record with this stable all suggest he can take a big step second-up.

Beaten a nose at Ipswich over this trip last start in a run that was up to winning standard, and his form has been consistently solid across the last three. Draws barrier 3 and should sit third behind the two leaders, with Tony Gollan and Angela Jones a strong Doomben combination. The unknowns are a heavy track after mostly dry form and top weight, but the map and consistency make him the one to beat.
Placed in both trials, including a third on a Soft 7 at the Gold Coast, so the wet going is no shock. Draws barrier 4 with a light weight and a senior rider aboard.
Clearly the best horse in the race on ability, having run in Listed company at Eagle Farm and produced the strongest run in this field at Illawarra. Second-up with a top Doomben rider and only 55kg. The problem is her pattern: she gets back, draws barrier 10 and has never raced on heavy ground, which is a tough combination in Doomben's short straight.
Races handy and has placed four times from six starts. Barrier 16 is the obvious knock at Doomben over 1350m, where wide gates underperform, and the stable's strike rate is low.

She draws barrier 2 to sit on the speed behind Olivoni, who looks vulnerable at the trip under top weight. Heavy ground is the unknown, but her Soft 5 effort gives comfort.
Trinity State brings consistent form from the NSW north coast, winning her Grafton maiden strongly and then going down narrowly in Class 1 at Port Macquarie after being held up. The 3kg claim gives her the lightest weight in the field, which is a real edge on a heavy track, and barrier 3 lets Jett Newman find a midfield spot with cover behind Olivoni and Fleeting Boom.
If the forecast rain misses and the track stays closer to Soft 7, she is the horse most likely to upset the first three.

His two Doomben runs this preparation were in stronger Bm65 company, and last start he ran to a winning standard for this grade when third behind a good pace. He draws inside, races handy, has already won on soft ground and trialled well on heavy going, all key boxes on a Heavy 8 track. Fitness is peaking third-up and he is a lightly raced entire with scope.
His last two runs in Bm70 and Class 2 company were strong finishing efforts, and Class 1 is well within his reach. The concern is the map: he settles near last and a heavy Doomben track with a moderate tempo tends to favour runners on the speed. His only heavy-track start was poor, though it was a Group race at a mile.
His form is best on rain-affected tracks, his rider has previously noted he wants give in the ground, and he carries just 55kg today. The Ipswich second behind a good one two starts back was in stronger grade than this, and the trainer has publicly explained that his last-start Eagle Farm failure was track-related. He will sit in the first three, which is where you want to be on a heavy Doomben surface. A non-winner by habit, so each-way is the play.
Buckeye is the value runner on a heavy track. He has run well every time he has met rain-affected ground, including a placing on his only heavy-track start and a bold last-start second on a Soft 7 in Class 1 company. He has placed in more than half his starts, and the booking of the track's leading rider is a plus.

Desanto is the most progressive horse in the race and today's conditions fit her neatly. She has won two of three on soft ground, draws the inside, carries the lightest weight and her first-up win on a Soft 7 was achieved with a wide run after being hampered at the start. Her maiden win at Eagle Farm was as strong as anything in this field. The heavy-track failure had clear excuses.
She has won on heavy, races well fresh, draws inside with the light weight and the stable is flying. The reason she is not the top pick is simple: she has seven seconds from sixteen starts, both trials were plain, she is resuming over a trip short of her best, and she will be ridden from near the back.
No Fooling produced the strongest recent run in this field when he won over this course and distance a fortnight ago, charging down the leader after settling worse than midfield. He draws the inside, keeps Maloney, and there should be enough early speed from Impervious, Tasman Bay and Cryptic Beauty to give him something to run at. The worries are 60kg on a heavy track and his habit of jumping poorly and getting a long way back.
Tasman Bay is overpriced for a mare with three wins from seven starts who has already won at this track and distance. She controls her races from the front, has won on soft and won a Heavy 9 trial here, and comes off a freshen-up after dictating at Eagle Farm.

Ladbrokes Turn On Flex Multi (Bm68)
She is the only runner with a clear claim to lead in a moderate tempo, has won at Doomben over 1350m, and has a strong partnership with her jockey. The weight is a concern, but a soft lead and proven course and distance record outweigh it.
A genuinely consistent mare who has been unlucky at times, notably when held up at this track. A safe place chance, with a winning case if the pace lifts.
He has to overcome a wide draw and a back-marker's run in a moderate tempo, and he doesn't win often.
Divine Justice has won her last two, one of them on soft ground, and finished strongly each time. She settles midfield, which suits a moderate tempo, though barrier 14 is awkward and the step up to Bm68 is real.
Col Burn has the best winning habit in the field and his last-start heavy-track win answers the going question. The problems are all contextual: the widest barrier, top weight and a class rise on a wet track.
He was second to Lebanese here last time and is drawn worse than her today.
A progressive gelding who has won two of his last three and shown real speed in the country. He should be handy from a mid-field draw and is the best value in the race.
