Cabbucio produced the strongest performance in this field last start when a narrow third over this course and distance in the same grade, despite hanging in through the straight. She is a consistent, lightly raced mare who drops to 52.5kg and draws to get a cosy trail behind a slow tempo.

Midway (Bm72)
La Morra won well at Kembla ten days ago and gets a race shape that suits, with a lone leader and a slow tempo that should let her sit third and strike first in the straight. Her last two runs were to a winning standard for this class.
She has been racing well in this grade, winning at Kensington and then running a solid second at Warwick Farm, and her trainer is in outstanding form.
Agita is the value in the race. His last two runs, a strong fourth here over this exact trip and a close second at Newcastle, were both good enough to win a race of this quality, and he has a course and distance win on good ground. Each-way is the sensible play.

TAB Highway Hcp (C3)
Puffin is the form horse on what she has actually produced. She has won three in a row at Gunnedah and Dubbo with authority, and her two 1000m wins were run at a standard that fits this class. The draw in gate 2 is a big plus at a start where inside barriers win far more than their share, and she can sit on the speed without having to lead in a fast-run race.
Angie's Sister has produced the most consistent high-grade form in the race and does her best work in front. The concern is that she must use petrol to cross from gate 9 against several other on-pace types in what shapes as a hot tempo, and leaders at Randwick have struggled in recent weeks. Her form on good ground is also lightly tested.
Her three country runs were all sound and the Messara team is in excellent shape, so she cannot be dismissed. But she resumes at a sharp trip, has never raced beyond Class 1 and is likely to be further back than ideal.
She gets in with the lightest weight in the race and has the speed to be in the first half from a wide gate if ridden positively.

Alinta Energy (Bm64)
Drops out of the Kosciuszko into a midweek handicap with the best winning record in the field — four wins from six, including one here over the short course. She won her only 1300m start by settling off the pace and running home strongly, and the hot tempo forecast plays to that pattern. Barrier one and a 3kg claim are big ticks.
Resumed with a strong win at Kembla, settling well off the pace and running over the top of them in a performance good enough for this grade. He gets back, and with so much speed engaged the race should be run to suit his style. The obvious knock is that he has never placed second up, but on form and racing pattern he is clearly the second pick.
Came off a spell with a closing second in open fillies grade at Rosehill, beaten under a length after being held up at a vital stage. She won at her only second-up run last preparation and drops out of far stronger company here. Both her good-track runs were in stakes races where she had genuine excuses. Drawn to sit just off the speed, she is a solid each-way hope.
Her Tuncurry win came with a powerful finish and she was a closing fourth in a much stronger Highway race here two starts back after racing wide throughout. From the outside gate she will drop a long way back, but the very hot tempo in front of her is exactly what she needs.

Toyota Forklifts (Bm88)
Rock Empire is the most reliable form horse here. He has been in and out, but the drop back to Bm88 with Nash Rawiller aboard is a strong move from the Maher yard. The wide gate is the main concern, though 1500m at Randwick offers a long run to the bend.
He does have the best draw and run-of-race profile, and McEvoy will have him in the sweet spot midfield, so he must be respected for a placing.
Acheson is the improver. His Canberra Federal Handicap second behind a strong winner was the best run anyone in this field has produced recently, and he did it carrying 57kg on good ground, which is not even his preferred surface. Six wins from twenty on wet tracks says a Soft 5 at Randwick will suit, and he sheds 5kg to 52kg with Schiller who already has a win on him.
Flying Bandit is the forgotten horse. He wins second-up at a 40 percent clip and has won on heavy ground. The knock is his racing pattern, as he will come from the back in a race that may not be run fast enough to help.

He has already won over this course and distance on a Soft 5, has four soft-track wins from seven attempts, and from barrier 2 should settle fourth or fifth behind a hot speed, exactly where Randwick mile winners come from. His recent runs have consistently been close to a winning standard.
The issue is 62kg. His best efforts came under 59kg, his two runs this preparation have been short of his best, and he was beaten by Formal Display last start while better off at the weights than he is today.
Magnatear is the ultimate each-way horse for a race like this. He drops to 55kg, draws to sit just off a fast speed in the spot this track favours, and Ashley Morgan knows him well.
She handles soft ground, has placed seven times from nine starts at Randwick, and sat fourth last start rather than relying on the rails swooper's luck.

Barn Dance Hcp
A lightly raced four-year-old on the way up who has never run a bad race. Today he drops to 54kg, draws inside, and gets a race that should be run at a strong tempo, which is what a horse with his closing turn needs.
A consistent gelding whose Doomben second last start was a strong effort under a big weight and was the sort of run that wins races at this level. He drops seven kilos, draws well, and keeps a jockey who knows him. A fast pace lets him settle midfield and run on, which is his best pattern.
An each-way play on a proven metropolitan performer with the class to win this.

Little Dance Qlty
The class runner of the field, placed in a Group 3 and a BM100 at his two starts before an honest fourth over this trip at Randwick. Drops out of black-type into Open company and gets weight relief at 56kg. From gate six he lands the gun run just off a genuine tempo. The mile is the query, but he has been mixing it at a far higher level than most of these and is the one to beat.
A model of consistency, beaten under a length in Listed grade at Eagle Farm last time after a brave second at Lismore. The inside draw lets him sit much handier than a deep closer, and he finds the line hard. The one concern is that his only good-track win came long ago and his peak efforts have been on softer ground, but he is a genuine winning chance on form.
The veteran class act, twice placed at Group level this prep and only beaten a couple of lengths over this trip at Randwick last start despite meeting late trouble. He drops to Open company and the fast tempo up front should suit his get-back style. The topweight and wide draw are real levellers, but his record here and around the mile keeps him in the finish.
The knock is the enormous jump into a rich Open, but he is improving, gets in light, and his jockey-trainer pairing is in form.

Asahi Super Dry Choisir (Bm100)
Wanaruah is the most reliable form horse in the race. He is the one clear leader, has won at Randwick and over 1100m, and his recent runs have all been at a winning standard. The 60kg is the only real worry, but the claim eases it and the barrier is ideal to roll forward.
A fast tempo suits his closing style, and his recent runs show he can finish off strongly, but at Randwick backmarkers win only a small share of races and the rail draw means he must find clear room.
He is far more at home on Good ground than the soft going of his recent runs, he is handy in the run behind the leader, and he gets a big drop in class.
Polyglot is consistent and has the benefit of a light weight and a record over this trip. Lightly raced at this level, he has run to winning standards in Brisbane and Sydney.

Quayclean (Bm84)
Improving sprinter who won last start by running down a tearaway leader. The very fast tempo expected here suits his come-from-behind style, and barrier 1 with a light weight gives him a cheap run. A class rise is the main query.
He is not selected as top pick because barrier 9 over 1000m at Randwick is a real handicap, and he will likely work hard to find the front against several other speedy runners.
In good form after winning at Rosehill. She finishes strongly, and a hot pace should give her a chance to run through late. Barrier 4 helps her avoid being caught wide. Her main risks are the step up in class and trip, as she hasn't raced over 1000m before.
Benevac has been a model of consistency against good opposition and the stable gets it ready. It faces a rise in class and a wide gate, but should settle midfield with cover and run on. Good claims for a place at least, with a win chance if fit.
A long-absent mare whose best form puts her right in the mix if she is fit. Her first-up record is strong, and the recent trial win shows she is ready. The pace is likely to be hot, but she would only need to be handy.

The Agency Real Estate (Bm84)
The class runner of the field and the one they all have to beat. She won four of six last campaign, including a smart Randwick success and a Caulfield second in stronger company, and nothing here matches her best form. The query is the six-month break and her get-back style over 1200m, but she has won fresh before and Rawiller can settle her closer than the map suggests.
A last-start Caulfield winner who charged home from well back to score first up. He was consistently around the mark in strong Sydney sprint company last preparation, and his closing efforts read well for this grade.
The one genuine speed runner in a race with little early pressure, so he maps to lead or sit outside the leader from the inside gate. He won a Rosehill sprint two starts back, was a solid fourth in much stronger company here last time and is race fit. The top weight of 61.5kg is the obvious knock, but he is tough, in form and should give a genuine sight in front.
A Randwick specialist with two wins from three here, including one over this trip, and she has won second up before. She drops out of Group 3 company where she was beaten only a little over two lengths first up, and the Sherry and Attard combination has an excellent record together.
